***** The federal government is there to deal with foreign affairs, enforce the constitution on the states, and deal with any commerce between states. The states and local governments are there to micromanage domestic issues and enforce the constitution on the fed.You use the example of a black person, that is why there exists the 14th amendment. I am not proposing removing the federal government, it should have strict limitations. Noticed that the vast majority of our rights in the amendments deal with protecting use from government or giving us power over government and doesn't potentially give the federal government to have power over the people. That especially exist in the first set of amendments.

***** Well you need to understand how this country was designed, what is in the constitution, and why dismantling the limitations of the federal government by bypassing the constitution is both oppressive and chaotic thus not progressive.

So during the recession under Obama and a democrat congress how did the big banks get bigger? And under what administration gave $85 billion a month to the stock market around a year ago? What Cruz said is true, when you create a big federal government that you can't control then the business gets in bed with government. Limit the size of the federal, go back to state rights and create a stronger local government and we can improve. Or we can follow the democrat way, increase the federal government's size and watch as it creates another recession and slow recovery.

Robert Maiorana Recessions happen, they have happen under most administrations and recoveries have come quickly. A recession happen in the early 90s, we just recovered quickly so no one notices. Bush got unlucky to be done with his term during a recession and due to an oppressive and unorganized democrat congress, and poor leadership from Obama we have been stagnate in growth.

Robert Maiorana Recessions happen all the time, it is the evolution of the economy. Those glorious regulations you love on banks are the very reason why the big banks were able to get bigger during the recession. The federal government has no limits. They don't care because they are well off. While you are screaming for more regulations the federal government is being bought out and changing the rules in the banks' favor. And if you think the stimulus package really helped then you need to think again. The stimulus package delayed recovery.

***** The problem you are talking about, with money being lobbied is due to big government. This wouldn't be an issue if the federal government didn't have power. No power to buy then no problems. You are so concerned about social programs when you just gave the federal government power to be changed easily and thus bought .

***** There is nothing wrong with government, we just have to keep government as local as possible to see that is remains the servants to society as opposed to the masters. At the local level we can see if government is actually working for us and is spending our tax dollars that actually benefit us.When we go from local to state and from state to federal we lose that control. We see it now where we have a two party system where they argue on minute issues such as gay marriage or marijuana laws but take bribes from corporations. We have one side that wants to expand welfare programs and the other wants to cut them. There is a reason why the founding fathers established state rates and wanted a limited federal government. There was a reason why they established zero federal income tax but instead a tax on the states and after over a century of trying to develop one a 10 year temporary one was established after the Civil War. Government was to remain local to give people strong representation. There nothing wrong with government, we just need to be able to control it. What may be good about government to you may be bad to others. Consider that as well.

***** No, those are the limitations of the federal government. People talk about the problems we have and they typically can be pointed towards an overpower federal government that has grown out of control.

***** Warren Buffet is a hypocrite, he found ways to get a tax break. Gates is the same way in donations to education and has been a part of education reform which he can profit off of very well. I always her from the left the fear of businesses being involved in education to profit from it but Bill Gates is doing just that. He is talking advantage of the controlling mentality of democrats.A person making a million won't quit because of taxes, instead they will raise prices in their business or invest less as in hiring less people or creating new wealth.

***** There are always demand of better goods and services at an affordable price and businesses push for that. For example hiring more people to develop faster services as in the local grocery store I go to. They hire people to bag my groceries so checkouts are faster. But if you raise taxes, or expenses on that business then they will let that person go. They will do what another company does in my city, who has slightly cheaper food, and that is have the customers bag their own groceries, or do like Walmart and just have long lines. But there is always a demand for better goods and services.
