So you want to place a cap on success? That is not how you improve a society.

A lot of the min. wage protestors are union workers. Plus, who cares about these ignorant min. wage workers protesting? If they spent more time trying to better themselves as opposed to protesting than maybe they can earn more. Fact is that you are paid what you are worth. I also wonder how large these protests are? 10, 20 people? You can't fix stupid. Remember this, when broken down there isn't one good reason to even have a min. wage.

$15/hr? Why so low? Why not $100, or $1000? Why not just mail everyone a trillion dollar coin so we can all be trillionaires? I mean that would solve all of our problems? Or even better question, why do liberals fail to understand basic economics?

***** So the wealthier they are the more they spend? Ok, why not give them $100/hr? I mean, that would improve the economy? Or many you don't understand economics 101. Money is arbitrary. Just giving people more money doesn't increase the amount of goods and services that can be consumed. You can't consume what you don't produce. What will happen is that prices of goods and services would go up. How much money they have means nothing if the purchasing power of the dollar is low.

MrFalconfly One because slippery slopes are valid, we see it all the time. Another, I can stand by the idea that we don't even need a min. wage, refusing to go with a $100/hr min. wage is saying you admit there are negative results of having a min. wage to begin. It is also shooting down the phrase "reasonable living wage" because a broad statement like that can mean anything to anyone. It is that you are incapable of analyzing and debating without using genetic fallacies.

MrFalconfly Look at gun laws. After every shooting it isn't about fixing violence, it becomes creating new laws were a law passed (and than changed) in Washington that sheriffs can, once a year, come in a person's home to see that their guns are properly stored. Or the new magazine limits that it is coming down to that people can only own six shooters. On federal income tax, there never use to be a federal income tax. Than it became a temporary tax after the Civil War. And then it became permanent, but on the rich only. Now everyone pays it. Now it is a mess in who should pay what and how a certain group pays none at all. Another result of the slippery slope. It isn't a logical fallacy, there is a reason why the country was designed to resist change at the federal level, to prevent the slippery slope. How is $100/hr stupid? $15/hr would not only get them off of welfare but allow them to have more money to pay for college and create a smarter society. That sounds "reasonable" to me. Never mind the fact that most min. wage earners are not poor. You pay someone what they are worth in the market, not for them to live. It is up to them to determine how they can make a living.

MrFalconfly http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2014/05/25/henry-fords-5-a-day-and-the-ridiculous-15-an-hour-mcdonalds-minimum-wage/ An article I just stumbled on about the $15/hr min. wage.

MrFalconfly 1. In European countries crime has gone up since gun laws have been put in place. Saying Denmark has low crime is deceptive in that there has always been low crime. But crime has been going up. The issue is that guns are a right to prevent against tyranny. There are other methods that can solve crime as a whole that doesn't involve removing our rights and freedom. 2. There never use to be federal income taxes. When you look at the history of the US the two biggest economic crashes occurred after when the federal income tax was established. 3. I can easily answer why the min. wage is a bad idea. There isn't one good reason to have one when you break it down. When I have had discussion on people on the min. wage I shoot down all of their arguments. In end they simply say that min. wage leads to more jobs and a better economy which I than bring up the $100/hr point. When I do that they refuse to support that because in reality there are negative effects of the min. wage. And then it comes down to that we don't need the min. wage (as in min. wage workers are not poor, businesses do pay more due to competition, etc.). 4. If you want to look at the work of employees than look at unit labor cost. The unit labor cost, which is the hourly compensation over productivity, and you look at a full service restaurant, which typically pays a low wage, you will see that it has increased at a ratio of nearly 4:1. That means the price of labor is outpacing productivity. They are already paid a lot. 5. The purchasing power of the dollar is greater in America. Comparing our min. wage to that of another country is flawed in that. Like when people try to compare us to Australia they fail to bring up purchasing power. When you do you see that it is around $9/hr., not higher. 6. I have looked around the world and see that a min. wage does not work.

MrFalconfly Really? That is how it is going to be? Ok. Nice strawman.

BackRowRacing98 Masters of fear? As in fear of if we remove the min. wage than businesses will pay little and people will be poor? You know, you hear it from both sides.
1
BackRowRacing98 No, most liberals have shallow arguments that are based a lot of fear. For example, on the min. wage, if someone would suggest to remove the min. wage than liberals cry that businesses will pay little when in fact less than 5% earn at or below the min. wage and 3/4 of workers who earn the min. wage get a raise in a year. Or liberals cry that min. wage workers are poor single mothers when that isn't true. Around 90% of min. wage workers are not poor, and the vast majority of low wage parents are not the primary earners. Same can be said on other issues, like healthcare. Liberals paint this picture that we need single payer because without it people are dying. If that is the case than how do you solve the problems of not having enough doctors? It is a pure emotional game on the left likes to play.
