He is making noise. Obama didn't care about anything, he just took the presidency to get a free paycheck.

Wow, six weeks. Where did he get that number? If this happens prepare to see increase prices or less hours. The cost will get passed to the middle and lower class. The reason why we have a growing income disparity is because we have a group of people who simply refuse to work but still get paid. The cost has to come from somewhere. If you want paid days off you have to earn it.

Ylze Tyr So you are saying I can not apply myself, work at a McDonalds for years and then all of a sudden I deserve 6 weeks off of work? No, one doesn't if they refuse to apply themselves and go after better jobs. What will result in this is increase in prices and less job opportunities for those at a disadvantage. Just like with the min. wage, all it does is hurt those at a disadvantage in this county. But it is ok, they can live off of welfare.

Ylze Tyr There should be an incentive to work hard and get better benefits, that is what progresses societies. If a business is required by law to give out sick days then why work hard to get a nice job at that company that provides it, might as well settle for the low skilled job since you are going to get the sick pay days anyway. The min. wage raises prices and hurts job opportunity for those with low skills or at a disadvantage. It hurts the poor. Those who support the min. wage want to hinder the poor's chances of doing better because now it is harder for them, and especially their teenage kids, in getting a job. It is also raises prices to where they are not able to afford as much.

Ylze Tyr I did. I will also tell you to go to Title I high schools in states with a higher min. wage than the federal and ask those kids how easy it is for them to find a job. Teenagers in high schools who are in more financially sound families have a better chance of getting a job due to better connections. But those from poor families don't and thus have a harder time getting a job. Ylze Tyr If the min. wage was higher that person probably won't have a job or have less hours. Also, with paid vacation and sick days is that businesses can't afford it. Like with an increase min. wage. I imagine he vacation time would be tied to full time workers, that means businesses will just hire workers at less than 30 hours. The same thing is happening with the business mandate and Obamacare. Also, you are routing for people who produce little in this county to get paid more and your reasoning is based off of nothing. That is not really success we want to strive for. That is like giving everyone in high school at least a C in class. They are guaranteed to pass so why work hard? If we did that our education system will be a lot worse than it is now. Same with the economy if we place such strict regulations on it.

We can raise the min. wage to $10/hr and there won't be major job loss for a couple of reasons. One, most people are already paid over $10/hr. Another is that there will be labor to labor substitution where those without skills will be replaced with those with skills entering the workforce either from finishing some sort of training or having an incentive to re-enter the workforce due to the higher min. wage. You also have to consider reduction hours. They will still be employed but with less hours. For example Card and Krueger did their research based no phone polling, not looking at actual payroll. As the article I linked, and what I have said before, raising the min. wage will hurt those with low skills, low experiences and low connections, typically the poor and lower class. That is why I told you to go to an area of a high min. wage and see how many high school kids at Title I schools are unable to obtain a part time job. The min. wage hurts the poor in preventing them from getting a job and it raises prices. I read the first link referenced in the video. I clearly says "The president will also sign a memorandum that will ensure federal employees get at least six weeks of paid sick leave for the arrival of a new child and propose that Congress pass legislation to give them six weeks of paid administrative leave." That is six weeks. On the issue of a person not doing their job well, they will lose their job. The issue is that even with their best workers most businesses simply can't afford to have them just take 6 weeks off and get paid. As I said, businesses will find a way to avoid that or pass the cost onto the consumers.

There isn't one single good reason to even have a min. wage. It is there to cater to unions and for politicians to buy votes promising more free stuff when nothing is free.
