@boss123400 "works fine" is vague. In Canada people die being denied heart surgery. In the UK people are going blind being denied eye surgery. Something has to give. If you cut pay there will be reduction in access, there will be a reduction in quality, these are the challenging conversations that left is not willing to have. They feel we can have the same quality and access to care in the US with the financial security of M4A. That won't work unless you jack up taxes and spending a lot.

Maybe M4A is a better system. I don't think so but I am willing to budge, but only through honest conversation. People on the far left don't want that though.

@boss123400 , raising taxes on the rich will not pay for that program. As for drug prices, what do you think will happen if you place a price ceiling on drugs? Something has to give. That is the reality of the economics. You can't place 30 million on the healthcare system all chasing after the goods and services we have now and not expect it to cost a ton. If you cut payments than you can't expect to have the same quality and amount of goods and services. That is the reality.

Or the fact that Medicare is far less efficient, will lead to a 40% less payout leading to less access and lower quality, and will lead to many other problems. The problem with the Bernie crowd is that they are not willing to have the difficult conversations on this issue. This guy is simply saying it is because of corporate greed when in reality there are legit concerns to be discussed in M4A. You can't just pass it off as corporate greed, these issues are complex.

One, what do you have to compare that two? People die in every nation due to lack of access. Two, you really can't obtain accurate numbers related to that as there are far too many factors to consider.

@APsupportsTerrorism , to make it cheaper you have to reduce payments to providers. When you do that you can't expect to have the same quality and access of care you have now. The problem with M4A is that it gives everyone insurance, not care. It does not magically increase the number of goods and services available but instead expands the number of people who can pursue it. Plus, with a 40% less pay rate for providers you can expect providers to not be willing to work as hard. Economics is a debatable field, just like science, and thus there are peer reviewed papers on it. You clearly have not done much work in economics.

Maybe some of Bernie's ideas are best for this nation, but to gain traction and support you have to be willing to have a full conversation and be as honest as possible.

Next, you cherry pick the things you want from those nations. You look at universal healthcare and tuition free college but ignore the fact that those nations have more of a flat tax compared to the US, you just want to tax the rich. You refuse to accept that those nations are very restrictive in the type of healthcare they provide and who can actually attend. You want the same quality of things we have here but not the same level of taxation. It took a guy from Denmark to push Bernie in a corner to get him to admit he will have to raise taxes on everyone. Deflecting to pro war and pro tax cuts does not change the fact that you want to radically transform these systems with very little thought or discussion. For example, on a simple point, how do you handle the NCAA with tuition free college?

@LordHypnos4 , you are. M4A will eliminate private insurance and have the government picking up the entire tab. That is dismantling the system. Tuition free college will require major reforms such as higher taxation, reforming the NCAA, deciding who can attend what college to prevent over crowding in some universities, etc. Have you ever considered these things? Going back to M4A you will have to change our expectations of healthcare. How much we can receive. Where we can go. When we stop providing care, etc.

Kyle made some asinine excuse. There are two problems there. One, they claimed they were willing to work 60 hours a week thus Bernie was not paying OT. And two, what was being practiced in Bernie's camp was the free market where people are willing to trade labor for a certain pay, something Bernie opposes. Essentially, Bernie is a hack.
