Bernie was an independent his entire career but then become a democrat to run for president. Of course the democrats hate him.

Because those are private jobs. Bernie wants government jobs.
2
Because Bernie is not even a democrat, he is an independent.

Pretty dumb. Most will grow out of if though when they start to do actual work.

Paul Ortiz With work you are paid based on the amount of wealthy you produce. People of your generation (and mine) are doing nothing different then what has been tried for decades. We are not practicing capitalism at this point. We haven't for a while.

Brent Showers So Bernie supports keeping people poor? I agree with that.

Yes, Bernie did hurt the democratic party. He wasn't even a democrat until he ran for president. He hurt the young voter turnout which is one of the major voting base for democrats.

Bernie was an independent his entire career and then decides to become a democrat in the end. There is a reason why they didn't like him and I agree. You can't just go along for the ride and then suspect people to support you in the end. But he is a socialist.

Alarios711 List some bills and was he the main author on them?

It goes beyond that. They want to pay taxes for "free college" and "free healthcare". Meanwhile, almost none of them are going to work in academics or the healthcare industry. They want others to do all the work while they benefit.

Georgia Cunningham Lomax We lack doctors, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, professors, TAs, tutors and other skilled workers in those fields. How do you suggest we provide healthcare and college?
1
Georgia Cunningham Lomax 1. Getting a degree in those fields is not off putting because they earn a high income, especially in the STEM fields. Problem is that people are not willing to put in the work. I teach physics and I offer so much free help and resources to my students. They don't take it. It just comes down to laziness. 2. Nothing is blocking them but themselves 3. You are going to be overworking what little workers we have. If you do that than they will charge more and thus what you feel will cover the cost with taxes won't. I bet your socialized medicine is rationed.

Georgia Cunningham Lomax "Even if there is a cut-off, why not just divide the US into zones of a 'workable' amount of people and apply social policies that way?" We do, it is called states. What you have just described was established in this country in 1776. Believe it or not several on the right still support that system and will be willing to go with it You can have all of your social programs you want at the state level. Now to answer why you don't see it can't be applied to greater numbers? Diversity and the inability to micromanage. Put it like this. You are buying sandwiches for 5 people. You can get each one what they want. Now you want to buy for 100 people? What you will do is buy 100 generic sandwiches, well maybe 120 where some will get wasted. Same concept applies to the federal government. We have a lot of resources get wasted. Also, with bigger government you have more bureaucracies. 60 senate democrats could not agree on one type of healthcare reform bill for the longest time.
