Jeffer Ddk With increase technology you get a couple of things. One, there will be more production so prices of goods will go down and also the quality will go up. That is why a VCR cost $2000 in the past but now blu-rays cost around $80. Also, there will always be jobs, they will just be easier. Look a youtube, there are people who get paid very well to just make videos. Look at athletics, with better TVs there are TV contracts and there are a ton of jobs athletics. I worked for the football team as an undergrad and I got paid to just stand on the sideline. I got paid to stand there and do nothing. I went to gym today and the guy at the counter was reading a book. He was getting paid to read a book. There will be jobs available, they will just be different, easier and most likely what people want to do.

If that was the case than a democrat congress passed NAFTA

Great point. One thing people have to realize is that we are a developed country. We can do better than creating more factory jobs. While we were developing factory jobs were great but now we should focus on even more.

That won't be a problem, it will improve society.

Boo Radley I am actually not rich, my family was at best middle class. My parents just bought a new car, a 2004 grand prix, the newest car they ever got. The countries that do well have resources to do well and have been developed for a while. You are making a poor comparison here.
1
Boo Radley That is debatable. Some have more natural resources which is true, you also have to consider that the US is more established than countries in poverty.

Boo Radley It is more that they are a developing country. At one point we were a country that had child labor and workers working long hours, we no longer have that. Now I know that people want to make the claim that it was the government and laws that stopped that, but the fact is that it is actually us developing stopping that. We could get rid of min. wage laws, child labor laws and so on as we would be just fine. We won't have children working in factories or mines anymore because no business wants that liability and if you look at a trend more people are going to college and living with their parents longer. Our children are being babied. Those countries in poverty are developing and those factory jobs going over here are actually helping them develop and lower poverty. In the US we don't need those jobs, we have other jobs we can do and still be successful as a country. It is helping those other countries out and giving us affordable goods. If you think they are bad now, if you remove those jobs they will be worse. It is highly debatable if countries in Europe function better than the US. The US I 4th in productivity, they are at the top in research and innovation of technology, science and healthcare. The US has the best university system in the world and is more affordable than what you think. A "free" college education in a European country isn't worth much. The US function well and the vast majority of the people do well. People who are poor in the US have it better in a lot of ways than those in Europe.

Free trade deals worked well for Clinton

A couple things on outsourcing. One, it wouldn't be an issue if we didn't have high taxes and regulations that scares businesses away. Another is that jobs come and go. We are very developed as a country. We shouldn't be focused on archaic jobs and should focus on jobs that creates more wealth and improving society. Jobs are easy to create, it is wealth that is hard. If you want jobs than fine, bring back those jobs and watch prices go up and cost of living go up and people no longer having luxury items. We will have little wealth than.

ft55555 This has happen in the past, when the tractor replace farm workers those workers worked someplace else. There will always be jobs. Also, with new technology we will see better goods and services at a more affordable price. There is nothing to worry about. We shouldn't be scared of progress but embrace it.
