What pandemic? Deaths are down. The recovery rate continues to grow. Also, nothing is free.

@spottyhead unions are one reason why universal healthcare did not come about.
2
You will pay for it in the end either via higher taxes or lower quality.
2
@supernovel7514 are they though? What is a "high rate"? 900 a day in one state was alarming, but now we are around 900 a day in the entire nation.
2
@supernovel7514 cases are also starting to drop.
2
Gabe. what do you mean? Because I stated facts and is not panicking?
2
Prophet how am I a fascist? You still have yet to answer that.

M4A will come with many issues. Not saying it is better or worse than what we have now, just saying it will come with issues that will harm people. So the "moral" argument has flaws.
2
Malic Bk also, you clearly do not know my stance. I support a public option ran at the state and local level. But of course you ignore that part of my argument. I support a balanced approach, not a radical one.
2
@wishiwassleeping8382 because that is not how Medicare for all will work. Medicare pays 40% less than private insurance. Thus, under M4A quality will be less.
2
That's normal.

The private system has advantages over the public. The public system does many things well, but so does the private system. It boils down to the US has a long history of using it and enjoy it. Same with European nations enjoying their systems. That is why you can't wrap your head around it. You, like most people, grew up on your system and experienced essentially nothing else. And it is difficult for you to try to understand others. Not saying that makes you bad, that is the norm in life.

@wishiwassleeping8382 it doesn't cover everything, and if it did it will become a mess where hospitals take advantage of it. When Medicare was established in the beginning there was the issue of hospitals giving unnecessary care to the elderly and leaving them in hospitals too long. In the 80s reform had to be established to list what Medicare covers and does not, and the price they will pay. That led less time in hospitals and less spending on Medicare. However, to pick up the slack hospitals started to charge more on other goods and services. So it is highly debatable.

@wishiwassleeping8382 it is very debatable.

Malic Bk what other scientific studies? I have cited many that raises questions on if universal healthcare systems are efficient. In the end I say it all the time, the US system is on par with other nations. We need to fix the current system, not completely dismantle it. In fact, many of the studies the left gives me I support, but turn it against them. The reality is this, the US system does many things well, but has shortcomings. But same with universal healthcare systems. Also noticed how I exposed a flaw in Medicare early on and how reform had to be developed in the 80s to counter it? Fact is that I am more well read than basically anyone here on this issue. You cannot go beyond talking points. That is why you are defending a guy who said the issue is "not debatable" when it is.
1
Malic Bk but care to give me some of those studies?

@wishiwassleeping8382 also, how severe is this "pandemic"? And on top of that, the federal government is paying for COVID treatment and cases where people looking for other forms of healthcare, like cancer treatment, are being turned away. In all, this virus is exposing that, in the end, healthcare is limited and something has to give.

@drcocobean what healthcare providers do is charge Blue Cross more. Medicare has a max price they will pay, so to make up the difference healthcare providers charge more to insurance companies and charge more for very basic things like a band aid. The money has to come from somewhere.
