sullyFL, what you said is correct in a lot of ways. To me the problems lies with the fact that us as a society has become so dependent on insurance for healthcare. I always ask two questions when it comes to our problems with healthcare 1. Why do so many employers pay their employees with healthcare insurance instead of healthcare? 2. Why does healthcare insurance equal healthcare in the US?

Coddy, and people are laughing at Canada and all of Europe. So what's your point? The only place where I was given bad service in terms of healthcare in my life was Planned Parenthood who, ironically, receives federal dollars.

Most democrats were against universal healthcare.

When it comes to our problems with healthcare in the US I ask two questions 1. Why do so many employers pay their employees with healthcare insurance as opposed to a higher wage? 2. Why does healthcare insurance equal healthcare? When you look at that and, to me, tie it to the payroll tax, then the problems of healthcare in the US are highlighted.

"Why are so many people opposed to universal healthcare" Because replacing one system that has problems with another that is, at best, just as bad plus has no room for improvement is not a route we should take.

Ok, go to Mexico than and use their healthcare. But saying this "Again, every other first world nation has Universal Healthcare and a low-cost education" is not an argument. Do you want to regress to the norm and do what they do? Consider this, humans are the only animal on the planet that can use a computer efficiently, does that mean we should stop using computers? Regressing to the norm is not a solutoin.

Rick, healthcare spending in this country is close to 20% of our GDP. Defense spending is less than 4%.

"What kind of argument is that? My point is every other first world nation has Universal Healthcare, so were are their complaints." You are saying you want to regress to the norm. Those countries have problems as well. "Plus do you really think that our tax dollars shouldn't go toward our welfare as Americans?" Why don't we pay for a house? You need a home before healthcare.
1
"Actually no, Universal Healthcare would cost America virtually nothing two-thirds of hospitals" Yeah, and tuition will become cheaper when we allow more people to go to college. Do you have doctors hiding in a room somewhere willing to work for next to nothing?
1
"You say that but Trump just destroyed 3 million jobs in the health industry." How? " Healthcare is the leading cause of bankruptcy." I agree, cost is a problem. In other countries people die or productivity goes down in the country. "Home ownership is a choice not a human necessity" Uh, no. You need a home to survive.

mudr kk, the US spends less than 20% of its federal budget on defense, not 54%. "That amount is larger than the next 12 biggest military budgets" That is not true. The most accurate number I heard was 7, but our GDP is larger than those 7 nations as well so it only makes sense.
