***** Ok, so you don't like it when Christians "ram their faith in your face" which is fine, and Christians don't like it when gays ram their practices in their face. So if we are going to pass laws silencing Christians, we must also pass laws to silence gays.

***** No law is being created that respects religion. If marriage is recognized by state and local governments then via the 14th amendment they have to recognize gay marriage. That is how that problem is solved.

***** I have seen the attempts, I don't agree with it. I agree, we need to allow gay marriage or drop the government's involvement in marriage. This is a 14th amendment issue.

Liberals do have a war on Christianity and religion. What Rush said is true. Liberals are using the government to determine what is "right" and what is "moral". When a Christian business owner wants to discriminate well that isn't "right" according to them so they want to use the government to change that. When gays are offended by Christian beliefs then liberals want to silence them with government. But when Christians are offended by gays liberals just call Christians bigots. There is a lot of hypocrisy on the left.

TheEmanExperience I agree

Stan Jones And you are using emotions to dictate what is right and what is moral. In both cases they are wrong. I don't see anything moral about discrimination, what I see is worse is taking away people's religious rights so particular groups are not offended. I wouldn't take away Pat Robertson's or Bill Maher's freedom of speech just because I don't agree with what they say? And I wouldn't stop someone from practicing their religion just because I don't like their actions. And I won't stop gay people from holding their rallies even though I find their actions annoying. What you, and others need to learn is that if you take away rights from others you need to do it equally and offer something back in return. Just because someone starts a business doesn't mean they lose their religious rights.

TheKeyser94 People have the right to discriminate. You do it all the time? Do you go to a catholic church? Do you date someone of the same sex (assuming you are not gay)? If you don't you have just discriminated. I am not supporting racism or anything here, I am supporting people's 1st amendment rights. You are supporting fascism and oppression. If a person wants to discriminate then so what? Let them. Let them be a fool. That is their right and it is your right to ignore them and criticize them with free speech. You have a problem with people wanting to ban gay marriage but you have no problem with wanting to ban people from practicing their religion. That is because you are a fascist.
1
TheKeyser94 The Civil Rights Act was unconstitutional and not right then either. We can solve problems without taking away our rights.

TheKeyser94 And you want to ban religion with government force. Difference is that you want to government force.

PHIL BURTOFT I have read Hitchens, I felt like his work in religion was crap (wrote a paper on his book saying basically that and got a 90% despite my professor loving that book). We have seen violence at sporting events, especially soccer, so do sports make good people do bad things? Or does alcohol? Or does money? Really bad people do bad things, it isn't religion. Government can be used to control people and that is what people are trying to do. Religion can't control anyone, force does it, like in the government.
1
TheKeyser94 So you want to ban freedom of choice. You do know what when you refuse to join a religion you are discriminating against them. You are discriminating against religion. People should all be allowed to discriminate. I am sorry but removing rights to "protect" you is the worst thing you want.

TheKeyser94 The Crusades? That was about power, no different then any other war. No different then what Joseph Stalin did. Your blame of religion on wars is ignorant. The human race is always violence, even without religion wars still would exist.
1
TheKeyser94 I have read the book. I have respect for Hitchens, but that book was terrible and the worst thing he ever wrote.

PHIL BURTOFT And as I said, people killed others over a soccer game, or money, or while drunk. The fact is bad people do bad things, religion isn't the issue. Hitch was completely wrong on that. That book was terrible. It makes a great dust collector on my shelf.

PHIL BURTOFT Japan tortured Chinese people in WWII simply because they are from a different country, should we ban countries? As I said with sports, law abiding citizens get emotional over sports, should we stop that? People have killed each other over money, over different races, over resources. Religion, while being used as a motivating tool, isn't the problem. Even without religion we will still have the same problems we do now, maybe worse.
