Cap Iolani So based on what you are saying the government needs to spend more. How about we just mail everyone a check for $100,000, that would be massive stimulus.

robair9911 The problem is that the federal government can't determine the market. Even at that they are not concerned with the people as much as they are concerned with themselves. If a private company makes a poor investment and misjudges the market than they struggle as a business. If the federal government does that, and often does, they just raise the debt ceiling. They are in no risk of going out of business. Having the federal government tamper with the market is the problem we have right now.

The two times in our country's history where we saw the slowest recovery from a recession was when we had massive federal government involvement in "fixing" it. Hoover was pushing the same things FDR eventually got passed. The economy always works in cycles, that is how it evolves. It will correct itself. If in 1929 and in 2007 free market ideas were practice and as a result we saw the slowest recovery as a result of it I bet Kyle would be all over it. Instead the opposite happen. Massive federal government involvement led to the slowest recovery ever.

ft55555 What about the crash if 1873, or 1837, or other crashes? We were fine then.

Nothing? So our cars, computers, TVs, homes, phones, etc. haven't gotten better?

Ylze Tyr I was pointing out how the original comment was wrong. Saying that "nothing trickles down" is a lie. We have seen innovation and new technology come to where the general public is able to use it. Look at Cuba. They practice the opposite of the free market. Their cars are terrible. Venezuela does the same thing, they can't even get toilet paper there. The US is near the top in research and innovation in technology for a reason. My dad as a kid had a black and white TV with 5 stations (maybe), I had cable as a kid with 50 stations, as an adult I have the rabbit ears with 14 stations (more than my dad got with his antenna) but I have Netflix, Hulu and Youtube. We are better off as a whole. Our life expectancy is better. People need to realize we are better off. Saying we are not is being spoiled. One can also look at it being greedy which is fine, but you have to realize the source of why we are better. It was because of investment, not government.

Bolgernow Yep, totally ignore the other side of the issue. Name call people you don't agree with and live in a shell.

thewanderandhiscomp Income hasn't been stagnate since Reagan http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/MEHOINUSA672N Seems to be up, and that graph is deceptive in that we also have a better life than in the past. Life expectancy is up, technology is better, more people own luxury items and so on.

Ylze Tyr Like I said, I am a moderate, not a "right wing drone." I give different sides of the story. You seem to be the myopic one and refuse to consider them and simply call me wrong. The simple fact that you totally disregard any ideas from the right should tell you something.
1
Bolgernow The fact that you think everything the right does is wrong and everything the left does is right shows how you are not intellectual yourself.

+gradostax None of what you said is true.

And losing money.

So what is your job creation idea Kyle? Raising the min. wage and everyone getting paid $20/hr to produce nothing?
