Young children suffer the most from schools shutting down. They do not have a solid base and require, typically, more personal instruction one cannot get via online. High schoolers and college kids have a base and thus, for some time, get away with online learning. You have to also consider kids who need special education.

Hellenistic Helmet that is how life works for the most part. Around 40,000 die a year in traffic accidents but we still allow people to drive.

@b_radfriendship yes, laws exist. But just because a law exist does not mean we have to bow down to it. Also, almost all laws exist for some reason. The concept of masks is virtue signaling at this point as more evidence keeps coming out that this virus is not that dangerous. Also, do masks work? CA has required them the whole time but they still seen cases go up.
1
@b_radfriendship not really. I am pretty insubordinate at times. But again, almost all of our laws have reasons why they exist. But how efficient are mask at slowing down the spread? Again, look at CA. Mandatory masks for weeks and still seen a spike in cases. You completely ignored that point.

@fudgefactor1639 with seat belts every state requires someone to have car insurance. A part of car insurance is paying for injuries. Thus seat belts are there to alleviate that in accidents keeping insurance low. Seat belts are also proven to save lives through very basic physics. A mask has not been shown to work as some places require it but are still seeing an increase in cases (CA for example). It is simply virtue signaling at this point.

He cannot enforce a national mandate on masks. I love how those on the left called Trump a fascist but he continues to leave it to the governors.

Shawn that is what a good leader does. Every state deals with different issues. You cannot enforce a one size fits all policy. Also, you do not want one guy trying to micromanage this situation. This is common in many organizations. Compare it to an NFL team. The head coach allows his assistance to coach the players. He isn't the one doing the coaching. Same as a president. Some areas of the nation do not need to wear masks.
1
Shawn also, by your standard, why have governors and mayors if they want Trump to handle all of this?

Shawn he never said inject lysol. And is it a pandemic? Many experts feel the virus is not that dangerous. This virus is being pushed now in an effort to try to beat Trump. Listen to the media, all it is from them is fear mongering. Very little positive news. Deaths are still low. Trump knows what he is doing. He is revealing to people that the virus is not that dangerous and we need to proceed in life. He is remaining calm. We should not all act like Dr. Fauci who fear mongers all the time. And do masks work? CA has a mask mandate and had one for weeks but cases still went up.

Shawn he never said inject bleach.

@camronyearout1158 how often has that law been enforced and/or challenged? We are in a unique situation here. But again, he has always left decisions up to the states. With the southern border, that is within the duties of the federal government, deal with foreign affairs and commerce between states. He never forced churches to reopen. And with schools, most federal funding goes towards Title I schools. If they are not open they will not need funding. A lot of the funding is for food and equipment which will be unnecessary if they are closed. And you say I am lack self awareness?
1
Because do they work? CA has had mandatory masks for weeks but is seeing a spike in cases.

All throughout life people place others in risk in some way almost every day. This is where we have to make a decision on what is worse, the virus or kids not going to schools.

Kyle apparently does not understand the levels of government and the responsibilities of them. Trump letting the states do it is a part of states' rights.
