  3. These regulations hinder our growth, we need to roll some of them back. I don't like the lobbying, but I do agree with removing the regulations. Mining regulations actually hurt our progress in green energy. Lanthanides and actinides are used in solar cells a lot and due to mining regulations we can't mine them hindering research and progress on them. That is especially true when China has cornered the market on those elements. So, oddly enough, these regulations are hurting progress in green energy research and moving towards it.

  6. Ex Animus The water you and I drink are ran by the state and local government, not the federal.  The vast majority of companies create their own workplace safety requirements, including mine (which I never follow).

  7. Ex Animus States can easily do that, and they do. All the federal government does is create unnecessary layers of bureaucracy.  But, states and local government do control and manage water. Also, several companies develop their own safety regulations. Ever dealt with OSHA? They are useless because they are understaffed due to waste and bureaucracy at the federal level.  We laugh at OSHA at my job.  They are useless. The EPA is almost useless as well. In fact, in my job our assigned group that checks up on chemical disposable is far more efficient than the EPA. Really, we don't even follow what the EPA says.

Ex Animus Not really.  OSHA was created in 1971, before that work related deaths were dropping for decades.  So OSHA did nothing because companies and workers pushed for work related safety.  Same with air quality improving before 1970 (the year the EPA was created).  I looked it up, the EPA and OSHA were unnecessary. Just like before the War on Poverty was created poverty was dropping.  Since then poverty has remained stagnate.

Before the EPA the air quality was improving.  Businesses were working towards better work environment and a cleaner environment.  Guess what?  People will refuse to work in a dangerous situation.  That is why miners are paid so well, the job is dangerous.

  10. Ex Animus Again, before the EPA the air quality was improving. You can't tie lead to the EPA because people were already pushing for cleaner goods. That could easily be done at the state and local level. "here's another fact for ya kid corporations and businesses only care about PROFIT." Yep, just like you only care about profit. You want a situation that is best for you, same with a business. They are there to make a profit just like you are as well when you work there.

  14. Exavior31 He is not addressing it because he supports Planned Parenthood.  No different than when unions are some of the largest donors in politics.  Or how Goldman Sachs endorsed a study about the min. wage that Kyle praised (but never mentioned Goldman Sachs).

  17. Kyle, we are not a democracy at the federal level. Also, members in congress are there to represent their state, not others. I hate Nancy Pelosi, does she care? No, because I can't vote for her. Same with Bernie Sanders. This is why the founding fathers wanted a limited federal government. Kyle, you need to learn how government functions in the US.

  19. Trump wants term limits, that is one way to clean it up. Bernie would have never approved that. Bernie would have pushed for more policies to make situations like these worse.

John Smith Yeah, but term limits allows for new politicians to come up.  There are 535 members of congress, that replaces a lot.  If Obama did not beat Clinton we would have had a situation were form 1988 to 2012 a president would have be either a Clinton or a Bush.  But term limits prevented both Clinton and Bush from re-running and allowing Obama to take their place.

  21. John Smith I agree to a point, but that brings up the next issue of how the powers of the federal government should be limited to begin with.
