Bernie would not have won. There was way too much dirt on him.

alicmodder, the main issue is that Bernie was never attacked. If you read the article I linked there is a lot of dirt on him Stealing electricity from his neighbor, not having a job until he was 40, and that job being as a politician will not resonate well at all with middle class voters from the swing states like Ohio, Iowa and Michigan. They work hard to pay their bills. They don't like the idea of a guy who could not pay his bills, stole from his neighbor, and then preaches the idea of giving money to lazy people. You look at polling data but it is irrelevant as Bernie was never subjected to attacks from the RNC and Trump.

People who keep saying that Bernie would have won have no connection with the common man in rust belt. They do not want a socialist. They work too hard for their money to have it taken away. The RNC was attacking Clinton during the primaries because they wanted Bernie to win. Bernie was an easier opponent. There is way too much dirt on him. He comes off as a nice guy but when you start throwing dirt on him it would destroy him.

alicmodder, I glanced at the link you gave me. It is nothing but polls. You can't look at polls when Bernie was never attacked by Trump and the RNC. Those polls are irrelevant because of that. Never mind the vague, and unreliable nature of polls to begin with. You are looking at polling data of a situation that never happened. Bernie is considered to be a good guy to many people, even to those who opposed him. But they did not view him as a leader. Also, him being viewed as a good guy would have been his biggest weakness. That is because any dirt on him will show up. Look up the video entitled "How Would Oprah vs Trump Play Out??? UConn Student Asks Ben Shapiro". There he talks about how Trump is made of mud and Oprah isn't. The same situation applies to Bernie.

alicmodder, to add, many Bernie supporters make the argument that Bernie was behind at the beginning because no one knew him. And that over time people learned who he was thus supported him. That he has no support at the beginning. The same argument can be made for the general election. No one knew him but the RNC had a lot of dirt on him.

People vote on policies. They don't like the ones Bernie has.

Around 3/4 of the work force has paid vacation. Those that don't work part time and thus don't work much to begin with. Without government mandate businesses offer paid time off already.

Swiss Army Knight, people die in other countries to due to shortcomings in their healthcare systems.

In countries like France and Iceland they have round 35 days total if you include holidays and time off. I don't see much of a difference.

Red Jack, there are reports in other countries of people dying due to shortcomings. In Canada, for example, you have people dying waiting for "elective" heart surgery. Read the following papers "True versus reported waiting times for valvular aortic stenosis surgery" Can J Cardiol. “ "Analysis of deaths while waiting for cardiac surgery among 29,293 consecutive patients in Ontario, Canada" Heart Just put the titles in Google and they should pop up. No country guarantees healthcare to all, period. Resources are limited. The fact is that when you look at every objective measure nothing suggests that the US has an inferior system or that other countries do it better.

Red Jack, life threatening problems are treated immediately as well in the US. It is required by law.
1
Niklas, I don't see that as a problem. You need to include holiday time off as well.

"Ron García because going on a paid vacation is part of the job. It boosts productivity and is good for employee health" Which is why businesses do it already without government force. Same with lunch breaks.
