Mr Peace Our founding fathers were very conservative.

Humanime The were conservative. Most would have hated what liberals are trying to push. There was a reason why they created the constitution that place strict limitations on the governments, especially the federal government. Read some history books.

Mr Peace For their time you can say that, but compared to now that wouldn't be so. Modern day self-proclaimed liberals are basically the opposite of what the founding fathers were.

Humanime Yes they supported rights but they also supported a limited government and freedom. They supported a government where the people had the most representation. If you look at the bill of rights they are rights that the federal government can't use to gain power over the people. That is why there isn't a right things like education or healthcare. They didn't want the federal government to be involved in that, so they left it up to the states to deal in micromanaging domestic policies. The idea was that people at the state and local level can create a government that works for them and that government would have restrictions set by the constitution. So people have freedom.Liberals today are not progressive. Wanting to establish a centralized government that can control healthcare is not what the founding fathers wanted and is as anti-progressive as it can get. It gives the federal government too much power and gives it the ability to control the citizens as opposed to the citizens controlling the government. So you want to say that the founding fathers were liberal and progressive people that is true, but by today's standards they weren't. The founding fathers, at least most of them would oppose what current liberals are pushing for today.

***** Because a government powerful enough to give you something is powerful enough to take it away. That is the issue with healthcare. When the system sucks and you complain they will just oppress you some more. With education, it is the same as with healthcare but worse. Education can be use as a form of indoctrination. They can tell you want they want you to know, making you only functional enough to work for them but not too intelligent because then you will be a threat to the government.
