  3. You have the same problem as Bernie. This guy brought up a legit question and you, like Bernie, went to the extreme. He asked Bernie want he will do to help small businesses with the regulations and Bernie was like "Millionaires and billionaires" or "Polluting water" How many businesses are in the position to even pollute water even if they wanted to? Basically none. How many businesses will poison their customers? I mean, how asinine is that. I can just see it now, you have a business owner being like "hmm, I don't like these customers coming in and spending money at my business, I guess I should kill them". This is why Bernie and the democrats lost, they have no answer and have gone off on the deep end.

  4. Larry Lewinsohn Ask any small business owner and you will see the plethora of regulations that differ from business to business. Here is a small one. At the business I worked at the amount of gas in the tanks was measured simply by dipping a stick into it.  Worked for years. We were required to install on each tank a gauge on top of them to measure the volume instead.  Completely useless and a waste of money, but it became required by law.

You really can't in start listing regulations because when you do Bernie will shift the argument of "well that regulation is there to do this", and that is when you move away from the big picture. You are than shifting the argument away to something else. There are a lot of regulations. You have to pay for licenses and apply for them. It all adds up.

  9. NG A tax break means nothing if the regulations are more expensive. Also, I see that as a smoke screen by the democrats. They are basically saying "See, we support small businesses, we gave you a tax break". Just like how Ol' Bernie says "I despise wealth inequality" making it seem like he supports the common man.  Meanwhile he owns three homes. "it's not the government's job to keep your business from failing." I 100% agree.  Just like it is not their job to stand in their way either.  Also, I can change it up a bit.  It is not the government's jobs to keep individuals from failing.  So with your mentality you should be against Bernie Sanders. There are people who are thriving without Bernie.

Rob McCune No, my argument is that it will lead to Bernie changing the argument in his favor to ignore the bigger picture.  Instead of the argument on that the regulations are hurting small business, it comes down to the pros and cons of a specific regulation.  One person can bring up the min. wage and than the argument will shift to only the min. wage.  It than gives the illusion to simpleton Bernie supporters in that is the only regulation we have when in reality there are so much more.

  16. Brian Williamson Read my comment to Rob McCune. That guy can go through one regulation after another and you end up with a long discussion.  The Cain vs Clinton debate was around 8 minutes on just one regulation.  Now expand that to 8 you are over an hour.

The regulations are different across the board for each business.  My cousin ran a bar and grill and she had to apply for numerous licenses and deal with different regulations that kept adding up over time.  They eventually closed down and switched jobs over time.  It became too expensive. Whatever business Gary Cole runs is most likely different than the guy in this video.  You really can't compare.

A guy in Vegas asked him how he will prevent prices from going up after he raised the min. wage. Bernie never addressed it. He simply said that you can't live off of the min. wage. That's it.   31. To counter on why you can't just ask "which regulations" or have the man bring them up, you end up going into a situation like what happened between Herman Cain and Bill Clinton in 1994. It was an around 8 minute discussion on Clinton's healthcare law on how it will cost businesses money. Clinton defended his side and Cain defended his. Clinton then said "give me the numbers because we have to move on" or something like that. Point being is that when you start bringing up specific ones you get into a discussion like that where a politician, and the media due to time constraints will move away from it. You ignore the overall problem .

Also, whether or not a regulation is needed is very subjective, and varies from business to business. In all honesty these regulations need to be set by only the state and local government. To me all federal regulations need to be removed.

  39. Quinton Jones If I am working for only $5/hr than I will have to find a way to cut expenses. I will have to get a roommate, maybe not have the cell phone plan I do now. Not have internet. When I was working for $5.15/hr I lived with my parents. The vast majority working a low wage are not poor to begin with, so it is a common theme. Also, if I am working for that low of a wage I am most likely just entering the work force, so I was living in a situation where someone else was paying the bills to begin with.

People challenge his positions because he makes them sound so easy. When they do he diverts the direction back to one of those points. He needs to find a way to actually defend his policies. I feel he can't, but if he can he needs to. If he doesn't than what needs to happen is the Democrats need to tell Bernie to shut up because with the GOP in control he is just making the left look bad.

You know why?  Because businesses will push for safety making these regulations pointless. A business does not want people getting hurt nor dying on their property.  A lot of times they fire careless employees.  All that regulation you mentioned does is add layers of bureaucracy and waste tax dollars. That is the issue.  In the place my dad works they require him to take a shower for one hour before he leaves due to the dangerous level of lead he has. He has three locker full of safety equipment that they pay for and they pay for that hour he takes the shower. Businesses push for those things making these regulations frivolous.

Businesses pay for safety equipment even though they are not required.  Fact is that these regulations are frivolous.  I am not opposed to all of them, the reality is that we need to keep them at the state and local level.  Programs like the EPA and OSHA are just layers of bureaucracy that wastes time and money.  Most of the workplace regulations in my job are enforced by the city.  That is the issue.   You add federal regulations on top of state and local it just adds to the cost and paperwork.

I did reply to your asinine comment on healthcare when yous said "healthcare is no place for capitalism" when we don't have a capitalist system in healthcare to begin with. You don't understand our healthcare system as at all. On regulations, there are so many and it all depends on the business you run. I can dig through the pages of them and break them down, but at that point we will be writing the equivalent of a defense which I don't have much time for because again, I am working on my doctorate. It is a common theme for small business owners to complain about regulations and it is a reason why so many voted for Trump. There comes a point you have to realize that these comments by business owners are not just them making noise and is legit in some ways. It is similar to Australia gun deaths.  People cry about how when they did the gun buyback program gun deaths dropped.  In reality gun deaths were already dropping years prior to the buyback program.  I can give another example.  Robert Reich said that when they increased the min. wage in the 90s that unemployment actually went down.  But if you look at years prior unemployment was already going down and so was the percent of those earning at or below the min.  wage.  People were already being hired above the min. wage. There was already a trend.

They are not random.  I don't follow a lot of safety rules in my workplace until we hear of OSHA coming, then all of a sudden it is safety to the core for a couple weeks.

Mckenzie .Latham The problem with stating regulations is it shifts the argument to dissecting each individual regulation.  Say this man even brought up the min. wage, Bernie would have shifted the issue to the min. wage changing the topic all together. Another is that regulations are different for different businesses.  You have to bring up cost analysis, how it affects that business, how the law is written and so on . Take Herman Cain for example, he broke down the numbers with Clinton how Clinton's healthcare law will cost his business to where he will have to fire employees. It was over a 5 minutes before Clinton said "give me your numbers and I will go over them".  That is the issue that is being avoided.

That is Bernie's approach. You ask him a question and he just talks about rich people and how we should take their money. He was on a debate about the min. wage with Douglas Holtz-Eakin and all Bernie wanted to talk about was Walmart. Bernie has the qualities of a communists. He creates this boogie man for people to fear. In this case they are rich people. And gets people to feel they are evil and we need to attack them. Meanwhile he owns three homes and never ran a business in his life nor created a job. This is why Bernie was dangerous and why so many people attack him. Also, that is why he lost because we don't have that many dumb people in the US.
