Zach, it isn't. It is a child's understanding of the economy. The federal government does not control the money supply, the Federal Reserve does. Taxes do fund the federal government.

MMT is a joke.
5
It is.

Ruben, it is booming. You can't expect things to get completely better overnight. Kyle brings up a "new new deal" where even after FDR's New Deal it took nearly a decade for the depression to end.
2
Very deceptive. To start, they are looking at the extreme situation in one area of the country. Next, how many of these people work full time? What is their education level? How many had kids when they could not afford it? There is a level of personal responsibility. Also, the fact that food is given away for free shows how far we have come. Food is given away to people who are obese. Think about that.
1
Yes, me again. I come to give a counter argument.
1
veel60, I know. That says something. It says they are too lazy to take care of themselves.
1
Miss Adjusted 1. They never said "full time". They said the majority work. That can be part time or full time. But nowhere did they say that most work full time. I actually watched the video. 2. They make loans to be able to afford college. 3. Birth control is affordable where condoms are essentially free. Also, don't have sex if you don't want to have a kid.
1
To add, Trump has been president for only 2 years. This situation has always exist. Under Trump things are improving, but it won't happen over night. Even after FDR's New Deal it took nearly a decade for the economy to get back on track. Why doesn't Kyle talk about that?
1
Sam Hyena, the interest rates for college loans are not that high. And payment is rather easy. Also, you should be getting a degree that is actually valued as opposed to an art degree.
1
Miss Adjusted, get a degree that people value and you will find a job. And making payments is a part of life. Making college free lowers the value of the degree. And you can't compare high school to college as they are vastly different. Birth control is affordable even without insurance. Also, have responsible sex practices. I had sex many times and no children so far.

IshtarNike, MMT is a child's version of economics saying that all we have to do is have the government print money and we can pay for things. There are two major problems there 1. The federal government does not control the money supply, the Fed does. 2. You can't consume what you don't produce. You can't "pay for things" that don't exist. By MMT's ideas we can increase money and we can pay for high quality healthcare for all as if it will magically exist. Reality is that we lack resources such as doctors, nurses, equipment, etc. Having more money does not increase the supply. Both sides reject good academic research. Problem is MMT does not have strong academic research.

Jack Ban, Bernie's Medicare for all bill raises taxes on people who work. Read the actual bill. Kyle supports Bernie and that bill thus he supports raising taxes on workers.

Rolando, Kyle and his fan base are ultra leftists. To me ultra leftists are right now a major problem in this nation which is why we have Trump. I am trying to pull these individuals to the middle so people on the left can have an intelligent conversation.
1
anticorncob6, I am a moderate. Right now republicans are the moderates in this nation. They were radicals in the past. Same as democrats were moderates in the past.
1
Khuno2, increasing the payroll tax does not increase the net income of the workers. Also, adding more people to healthcare will increase demand which will increase prices.
1
Kyle's ideas will do a lot more harm than good. A universal basic income will lead to massive inflation and lower productivity.
1
Research basic economics. You increase the money supply with easy monetary policy inflation happens. That is what happened in the 60s and 70s when we had hyperinflation.
1
Also, Kyle never cites any sources himself, way to set a double standard.
1
1. Kyle hardly cites sources 2. We did have hyperinflation in that time. Inflation reached over 11% in the mid 70s when it is usually around 4 or 5 percent.
1
Very true. Poverty situations like this happens all the time. Under Trump things are improving, it doesn't happen over night and the reality is that there will always be poor people for many reasons. Kyle praises FDR for the New Deal but even after that it took almost a decade for the economy to leave the recession.
