@mjr3642 , it isn't. Bernie was all about taxing the "millionaires and billionaires", now he just says "billionaires". Also, it shows that Bernie became rich while producing nothing. He runs for president and changes his party from independent to democrat. He gets recognition and uses that to make a million selling a book. He does not donate anything, nor runs fund raisers, nor runs charities. He just runs his mouth. When he says we need a "revolution" that means everyone else works while he enjoys his three homes. He shows he is a hack.

He isn't wanting to increase his own taxes. In 2016 he was saying "millionaires and billionaires", now he just says "billionaires" now that he is a millionaire himself.

What is the value of your labor? Well, inherently nothing until someone else values it. Just like a car is not worth anything until a buyer decides to pay a price on it. Without a business owner those workers won't earn a dime. The employer valued the labor and ended up paying the workers so they go from being paid nothing to something. Typically to become rich you have to provide the public something they demand. I don't care that someone like Bezos is rich, he made shopping for me easier.

Bernie was bad here. Bloomberg showed he actually created something in his life and donates his money. Bernie becomes a millionaire and when that happened he no longer says "millionaires and billionaires" but just "billionaires". Bernie just ran his same, old talking points of "screw rich people" and pushed for socialism. That was not good.

@macgeek2004 , saying 6 people have more wealth than the bottom 50% combine is a very flawed argument. A recent paper entitled "Measuring Inequality" In the Oxford Review of Economic Policy discusses wealth inequality at one point and gave an example of a college student in debt due to college loans having negative wealth, where a homeless person with no debt has very little wealth but on paper has more wealth than a college student. Now who is in better shape? A lot of the wealthy have their wealth tied into the shares of a company and them owning those shares give them high value. So when Bernie brings up that point he is basically lying to you.

@FlyingBaNana3000 , he sold his book after he ran for president and gained recognition. Was the content really that good? I am writing a PhD dissertation that will be over 200 pages. It outlines my research in a detail way. I feel that is way more important to learn than hearing about Bernie's failure of a Revolution. I bet no more than 10 people will read my dissertation. Bernie is a hypocrite, why doesn't he donate his money for the time being? Also, with Bernie, he is going to have everyone else work while he just runs his mouth.

James Asper , saying he is a poor congress member is like saying someone is the skinnest person at a fat camp. Big deal. And yes, he has not produced anything. Has he ran any fundraisers or charities. How many businesses has he ran? What has he actually produced to help people? All he does is run his mouth. He wants a system where everyone else works and he just sits there. This is similar to Family Guy when Quagmire ripped on Brian. At point Quagmire brought up how Brian is always talking about the poor and how they need help, but Brian is never actually doing anything about it. As Quagmire said, if you want to help grab a ladle. Bernie runs his mouth about how people need help, now what has he done? He just made millions off of his book sale. Why doesn't he donate it? As for a job as a mayor (in a "city" of around 40,000) and a Senator shows he is simply a career politician and nothing else. He could not make it in the private sector. And again, all he does is run is mouth. "nd Bernie Sanders EXPLICITLY (!!!) makes the case that this revolution is about VOTER TURNOUT and VOTER PARTICIPATION in the democratic process" Yep, not actually going out and working to clean up streets and help the poor. Just vote. Meanwhile, people like me are actually working to create a better society. Talk is cheap, actions speak louder.

I am in graduate school and I see MBA students praising Greta Thunberg as opposed to reading up on the issue of climate change by scientists. I wrote a paper on it in one of my MBA courses citing actual scientists. Bernie donating his money would be him leading by example. Again, talk is cheap. Where is the actual action? He runs his mouth all the time, but I see no action. Trump actually ran successful companies. Him and his family ran charities. Again, what has Bernie managed? "while the people who work there run the risk of losing their livelihood if he runs it to the ground." Even if a company does not develop a profit the employees are still paid. If a company goes under the owner loses a lot, the workers just get another job. "Cleaning a street or donatimg a little partial relief to a few poor people does not make a systemic change." Again, it is leading by example. Anyone can run their mouth. Actions speak louder. That is the problem with Bernie and his fans. They are pushing for change and a "revolution" by just running their mouths. I see no actual action. While they are running their mouth people like me are actually taking action. I can't support Bernie who has never accomplished anything through actual work.

Bernie was a fool here. He just said "billionaires" as opposed to "millionaires and billionaires" like he did in 2016. Bernie is now a part of the millionaire club so he changes his tone. Bloomberg is correct, that conversation will lead to Trump re-election. People are not going to vote for a socialist in Bernie. Bloomberg became rich and donates a ton of money. Bernie made millions, changes his tone and donates nothing.

@ericconnor8251 , yes, they have private options that had to arise due to how inefficient the public system was. You will receive less healthcare because Medicare pays 40% less. It will bring our spending down to other nations, but like other nations people will be offered less care. The reason why the elderly still get high quality of care is because private insurance subsidizes it. But if spending was cut down to what other nations pay healthcare providers will offer less care as a result. And our society will not accept higher taxes. And "one national standard" is terrible as there is no competition and nothing to compare to. In Canada wait times are terrible. If I get injured I will have to wait for months in pain.

@mycelia_ow 1. Yes you do. Defense spending is 4% of the economy, healthcare is 1/6 of the economy. Also, saying we spend more than the next 8 nations combined is flawed. Our GDP is comparable to those 8 nations combined. We also spend more on education than many of those nations combine, should we cut that? Bezos, Buffet and Gate pay more taxes than the middle class. 2. Because Medicare pays 40% less than private insurance. Paying healthcare providers 40% less will lead to them limiting how much care one can receive like other nations do. Right now we offer the most advanced care and testing compared to other nations. That is how other nations keep costs down. 3. An government is more trustworthy? Really?
