Poverty is subjective. Plus the economy is doing better overall.

@zidneya , debt is arguably a good sign for the economy, especially with higher interest rates. It shows lenders are willing to take more risks.

@b3at2 , obesity is higher for those in poverty.

@Zunile03scape , actually, under a strong capitalist system prices will drop. And define "do things for the people". That is vague.

@Unknown , I never said all debt was good, but debt is not inherently bad. As for the bubble that was due to the Fed keeping interest rates low.

@zidneya , a strong economy lowers risk. You always take a risk in the economy. You push to lower it. You do so everyday. You, I assume, walk/drive to work. You are taking a risk as you could get into an accident and die. But the reward is much greater as you will get a paycheck. And you take actions to reduce that risk, but in the end you are taking risks. But if the risk is too high than you won't take it. For example, if there is an ice storm and you can afford to take off work than you don't drive in the ice storm as the risk of accident is much greater. Same with loans. A stronger economy means less risk people will default on their loan.

@b3at2 , you can eat healthy on a low budget.

@meowmeowmeow2024 , the economy is complex. A lot of time the poverty rate is arbitrary as costs keep changing and so do people's lifestyles.

@meowmeowmeow2024 , uh, higher interest rates slow down inflation. You need to read up on the history of the Fed.

@meowmeowmeow2024 , just because you are college educated does not mean you know what is going on.

@JohnnyCageRock , debt is higher because lenders are willing to take more risks. Debt is higher because people are purchasing larger items (such as cars) and with many credit card companies offering deals debt is also higher. I go into CC debt simply because my company offers me money back deals. I pay $0 in interest because I pay my debt back the next month. As for healthcare we do not have a free market healthcare system. We have a heavily regulated and subsidized system.

@meowmeowmeow2024 , I know how the Fed and interest rates work.
