@Sheepy-hp9je , true. Kyle and his fans are economic illiterates

@dieselface1 , if you actually understood economics you would know that $22 is bullshit. As for people living paycheck to paycheck that is more of a factor of bad money management.

Because many people will lose jobs. Most in poverty either don't work or don't work full time.
2
@zacbridges9689 , only about 2% who work full time year round are poor. That is the reality. Raising the min. wage is not going to help out those that are already unemployed.
2
In the market you have limited resources. In the end that will determine what happens. If a business can't afford a higher wage it will lay off workers.
2
Cost of living is also higher. Also, there is a lot more to the economy than just the min. wage.
2
@majintroll4454 , in areas like rent there is a lot more than influences that prices than the min. wage. Situations like rent control and property taxes influence that. I love how you pull the race card. Shows how ignorant you are.
2
@alwayschanging5821 , you can't compare the min. wage to inflation because not everything in the market inflates. By your standard people will not be able to afford cell phones because inflation would price them over $4000.

@ParisofNowhere , you can't calculated a "living wage" because it is subjective. Someone with 4 kids has a much higher living wage than someone who has none. My co-workers has 2 kids and drives to work. I have none and walk to work. Should they earn more than me?

Henry Ford had a business model to earn a higher profits. He thus paid employees more because he can afford it just like Google does.

There are many references that say counter points. The issue is that there are more factors that influence overall employment besides the min. wage. For example, in the mid 90s the min. wage went up and unemployment still went down. However, during that time unemployment was already dropping and the percentage of those earning at or below the min. wage was dropping as well. BLS stats show that. So people were already getting hired at a higher wage to begin with. This is what Kyle and many on the left does. They over simplify complex issues like economics. There are several indications of low skilled workers losing jobs when the min. wage went up. But again, there are many other factors besides that in the economy. In the end basic economics says if you raise prices demand drops, period. Consider this, if the price of gas went up will you be driving your car more or less?

@joshyouwah5489 , more households are holding two jobs because, arguably, both men and women seek careers. We have shifted as a society where women are leaving the kitchen and pursuing goals. That's great but that is a reason why more households hold two jobs. Another factor is that more people are going to college and thus delaying going after a career. Thus they live with roommates and they all have jobs. Overall this issue is complex. I would not listen to Kyle or his fans on economic issues, they don't understand it.

What method of inflation?

There are several components to this. Some businesses will have to raise prices to compensate. Others will cut hours. For example, someone owning 10 McDonalds can cut down to 8 and shut down the two lowest earning ones and be fine and won't be able to raise prices. Someone owning one business will have to raise prices or possibly cut hours. For example, if they are 24 hours they might have to cut down to 6 AM to 11 PM. The company I worked for did that, we shut down our business an hour early. Fact is that businesses can't afford higher wages, period.

@linusmlgtips2123 , most poor people either don't work or work part time. As is close to 90% of min. wage workers are not poor as they are a second or third earner of a household.
1
@majintroll4454 , restaurant prices are lower. Guess which group typically earns the min. wage? Restaurant workers. My point stands.

Will never pass, this is nothing but noise by a group that isn't in power
