@sardoniclysane , not everything inflates. Many goods and services go down in price. Take, for example, the cell phone. A brick cell phone in the 80s using CPI inflation cost around $4000 in today's money. Now smart phones are essentially free and has more computing power than what put a man on the moon. Now consider services. How much is the Blockbuster employee worth? $0. You can't just take the min. wage and tie it to inflation as it isn't that simple. What is their cost of living? What are their benefits? I need more information before I come to a conclusion.

@H-Crown , it is a very simple question. The reality is that people who saying "inflation" most likely don't know there is more than one method in measuring inflation. You say that I say dumb things but I bet you did not know that either. So who is really the dumb one? The one who understands there is more than one way to measure inflation or the one who doesn't?

PCE is a respectable method of inflation that is used by the Federal Reserve to determine interest rates. Why do you ignore those numbers?

@michaelbeelby1995 , lazy? Really? I bet you I work much harder than you. The economy is improving and the only people who are not seeing the improvements are lazy people. Am I struggling? Sure. But I am still in a great position in life and doing well. Any struggles are from my own doing.

@michaelbeelby1995 , I did not say contradictory things back to back. Here are some of my struggles. I have a 6 figure loan due to poor money management. Some of it was my fault and some of it were due to poor habits that arose due to my major depression disorder that I am now taking an SSRI for that is helping. Yes, it held me back but I worked hard to overcome those struggles to where I am a year away from receiving my PhD and a year and a half away from getting my MBA. I can add to what I struggled with but bottom line is this, I did not ask for a handout, I worked very hard to fight through, and I am much better off and still growing. The only people who truly struggle in this current economy are lazy. If you want me to be more specific I can. Are there some who work hard and struggle? Sure. But they don't make excuses, they find a way. There lies the difference.

The economy was growing to begin with 3. To take advantage of useful idiots like yourself Do you really think Bezos, with all his success was scared of Bernie? The same is with Disney. He raised wages and people who don't know better claimed it was because of Bernie. Congrats, you have been fooled. As for the house passing the $15/hr min. wage, that has zero chance of passing as well. It is no different than when Republicans kept passing the repeal Obamacare knowing it would not pass the Senate nor Obama. But the second they gain power they stopped.

@michaelbeelby1995 , there are always inequalities. The reality is that it is much more complex than what Bernie shows. Yes, hard working people struggle, but you have to realize how much do they struggle and for how long. Do I struggle? Yes. But it is not major and I am on a path where I will be well off shortly. There lies the difference. I use my struggle as a learning experience.

What do you do with the students who did not pull out a loan or who paid off their student loan? Do you just write them a check? Eliminating student loan is asinine. Kyle really needs to stop talking about economics.

K-12 education is locally ran and funded. Also, college education is an investment you make as an adult.

@ft4903 , at the local level the issue is different. Some people do fall on hard times and you can cater to them to a degree. But that the local level you can also give them advice and teach them. What loan forgiveness people are pushing for is literally just giving money away to people with zero life advice. So it is much more complex. I have a 6 figure loan and I made mistakes in the past to create that loan. But I learned from it and I am much better off because of it. I am not asking for a handout. Those begging for a handout are lazy and don't learn. People have giving me help but they are people who I interact with personally. It isn't some entity that I have no clue what type of person they are (the federal government). Life is full of lesson, no one is above them.

Student loans are around 5% of GDP, Injecting that much money in the system that quickly will cause major inflation. Also, you will have a lot of lawsuits on hand from people who did not pull out a loan or paid off their loan and will demand money as well. Why should they not get money when those who pulled out a loan do? "AS ANY FIRST YEAR ECONOMICS STUDENT KNOWS demand is what drives the economy. " Well, as many advanced year economic student know it is far more complex than that. You increase demand without increasing supplied prices go up. Inflation. At one point my girlfriend was unemployed and I was a full time student working two full time jobs to not only pay for my bills but for her's, and she just left me one day because she also had a mental disorder (she was taking lithium for bipolar) and never returned as she simply does not care about others. I lived a very challenging life but it made me stronger. I am still successful that is a year away from getting my PhD and a year and a half away from getting my MBA. So to say I never been in a bad spot is simply false.

@ft4903 , the Iraq war is a part of defense spending that has existed for decades and thus a part of the economy. It was not a major influx to the economy. The bailouts was a major influx to the economy which is why the economy did not grow because of it. I feel you need to study economics more. Go beyond the first year.
