+clearshot66 "they support that CUZ IT WORKS." No it doesn't. If it did it would have been implemented decades ago.

+clearshot66 What modern nations? Please list some.

+clearshot66 France has double digit unemployment and low productivity. The UK has low productivity as well. The Scandinavia countries have populations that are less than most US states, so not comparable. What you also have to consider is that those countries have vastly different societies than the US along with their much smaller populations. There is really no comparison. Even if you were to make one the US is in the top 5 in productivity, has the best college system, has arguably the best healthcare system, and is number one in research and innovation in science and technology.

+clearshot66 The US has arguably the best healthcare system in the world. https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf College is expensive, that is mainly due to the student loan program we have. Even at that the payoff is still great considering what you earn with a college degree, if you get a degree that is worth something. We are top 5 in productivity due to our advanced technology. N. Korea has slaves and they are near the bottom in productivity. So it isn't because of "we basicly work as slaves". If we did then our productivity will be low. "did u hear about the chicken factory workers having to wear diapers " Yes, it isn't my fault that those workers refuse to better themselves. Plus that is only one set of workers.

+Jesse Saxon Obamacare is just a Trojan Horse for single payer. When it doesn't work regressive liberals will say "see, we tried the private route and it didn't work, we have to go to socialized healthcare".

+Mark G Being for profit is not a problem if we had a free market.

+Kent Olaf Steinhaug Healthcare is not a right. You really need to learn what rights are in this country and why they exist.
1
+Kent Olaf Steinhaug Where does the UN list healthcare as a right? Also, to obtain healthcare to give to people you have to take from someone else, thus taking their life away. So the whole "right to life" thing you are pointing too goes against what you think it is. So it is pretty clear you don't understand what rights are.
1
+Kent Olaf Steinhaug Ok, so how do you offer that "right"? It has to come from somewhere. It isn't like freedom of speech where it prevents the government from doing something. You are saying that as a right the government must offer it meaning the government has to force someone to give up their services and resources which is basically slavery.

+Kent Olaf Steinhaug "You have a right to be protected by the police." Actually no we don't. Police are locally ran and funded, but we have not right to them. Some town in the country don't even have police. "You have a right to get help duringĀ a fire. " No we don't. Fire departments are locally ran and funded where around 70% of fire fighters are volunteer. There is a rural town in TN that has no public fire department where if you want their services you have to pay a fee out of your own pocket. If no they literally let your house burn. So again you showed you have no clue what rights are, or even how the US functions as a country.

+Kent Olaf Steinhaug Not true, the US has arguably the best healthcare system in the world. https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf

Single payer would just create a bigger problem. The reason why insurance companies are losing money is because they are being forced to pick up customers that are a high risk. The problem isn't insurance companies though, it is that the federal government created a situation where healthcare insurance has become healthcare. Insurance should be for something major that happens out of the blue, like a car accident. It shouldn't be for someone going to get a routine checkup or elective knee surgery. Just like car insurance covers if a tree falls on your car but doesn't cover oil changes or someone buying new rims for their car. Single payer will just eliminate competition and create artificial demand in healthcare. People also need to realize that for profit does not equal free market.

+Raza "more than the next 7 highest military spending nations combined. " That is really deceptive considering the size of our economy to begin with. If you look at percent of GDP you will see there are three countries that spend more than us. As far as the world getting safer, it is.

+Gray Moe Get rid of the federal payroll tax would solve a lot of problems.
