If you remove all gun murders from the US the US still has a higher murder rate than the UK. It is an issue of culture.

It is a note on what to say. People show empathy in many different ways, but there are general ways to say it. To say that Trump does not feel empathy is going very low in this discussion. I myself feel empathy towards people but will need to be reminded in what to say due to my social abilities. In reality for successful people this is common.

You can't just ban guns, there are over 350 million guns in the US. Also, banning guns takes them out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

MsRoadtoRiches, if you look at mass shooting rates the US is not even in the top 10 depending on how you define a "mass shooting". Even in the watered down definition it is only number 4 by one source. Next, murder is a culture issue. If you remove all gun murders from the US the US still has a higher murder rate than a lot of countries. For example, in comparison to the US our murder rate is around 5 times that of the UK. Remove just the murders committed by guns and our murder rate is now twice that. So the question now becomes is that a gun issue or an issue of culture?

The idea of armed teachers is that the thought of a gun being present will lower the chance of someone committing a shooting. Most of these shootings happen in gun free zones. And while a situation can be chaotic, it isn't so much that someone with a gun can stop it. Even at that it give them a chance. Without a gun their chance of defense is very small.

David, each point A. People with CCWs are taught to drop the weapon with hands in the air when the cops come B. They are trained to not shoot unless they have a clear shot C. Again, cops come they drop the weapon D. Again, they will wait for a clear shot. E. This is not a war, this will be one or two shooters F. You shoot the gunner dead and then move on People who know nothing about the issue should no comment.

"This guy knew there was an armed guard" Just one which is inefficient. Also, there are many places where you can kill a lot of people. Yes, schools are one of them and I would agree that is a reason why they attack them. But there are other places. As a whole, there is no idea solution, people need to realize that. I support allowing teachers to carry guns as it is a way for them to defend themselves if this does happen. It gives them a chance.

If they killed a few people you can't trust them. If they haven't then sure, hold them down until cops come. But if the person is a killer why take the chance? Again, how do you know someone is surrendering? They say they are and then pull out another gun? They say they are simply to eliminate the person with a gun trying to stop them? The person only surrenders when 1. They separate themselves from a visible weapon. 2. They are in a position with their hands visible and don't move until police come. If neither one of those happen they are a threat and should be eliminated. That is how cops act as well. Again, please be informed on the issue.

All you have to do is say they were a threat which isn't hard to do. " Same as it's illegal to shoot someone after you've forcefully negated their potential to be a threat." Eh, again it isn't. All you have to do is say you felt they were a threat. That is very vague and will not take much to convince a judge to agree. Also, dead men tall no tales. If they are dead your story is the only one that matches. I am well informed on this issue. Maybe in some very liberal parts of the country you would not be able to get away with it, but in most of the country you can. As long as you can say you felt threaten you can kill them.

A lot of people cannot relate to "regular people", especially successful individuals. It isn't about not having empathy, it is about them just having a different personality.

Joshua Caine, what makes you think they have no empathy? I have empathy myself but I have a different way of showing it. People who are successful manage stressful and highly emotional situations different. They is why they are successful. Take a doctor for example, they are very successful. They do not break down when someone dies and ends up telling a family member. They act emotionless. It does not mean they don't care, it is that they have that personality. Trump, like most people with success, is in a position of constant scrutiny. They are wired to contain emotions and thus will act differently than how most common people act. It isn't about they being a psychopath or a sociopath, and it isn't about them lacking empathy. It is how they are wired.

Have you ever experienced a school shooting? Statistically I can say no. I haven't either. I have no clue how those kids are feeling and neither does the majority of the nation. So do I and the majority of the nation lack empathy? I have never been an orphan, does that mean I cannot show empathy towards orphans? I have no clue how they feel as I never been in their shoes. I can easily say you lack empathy as there are many situations you have never experienced in your life. "And you don't seem to know doctors very well. Doctors do not act emotionless. I work with people in the medical field. They are trained to be emotionless. Not doing so can lead to lawsuits, chaos and more dead patients. You never experienced what they have experienced? Also, you are looking at a subjective nature of an issue. There are objective sides as well that allow us to survive as a species. Joshua, Bernie has no empathy by your definition. And he pushes for policies that are objectively terrible. Do you consider him to be bad?
