About buses and colleges, if they are public buses and colleges, as in they receive tax dollars, then the can't discriminate because of the 14th amendment. We have a right as citizens, via the 14th amendment, to be treated as equals under the law. Again, learn what rights are. And don't make asinine assumptions.

Do I agree with it? No. You are making accusations on me without even knowing my stance. Personally I don't care if two gay people get marry or adopt. But that is not the issue. The issue being discussed is what are these rights that straight people have and gays don't. You are arbitrarily making up rights. The rights are listed in the constitution. Nowhere does it say you have the right to adopt a child or get married. Now in comparison to the Civil Rights movement there were laws that forced discrimination. That is a violation of the 14th amendment. People are being discriminated based off of race. With gay people and adoption they are being discriminated based off of actions. There is a difference and you need to learn and understand them. That is why I asked what rights do straight people have and gays don't. And you just gave me the typical answer when I ask this, made up rights to satisfy your opinion which shows you clearly don't understand the issue.

On the issue of marriage I feel that marriage is a state issue. If a state is going to recognize marriage then via the 14th amendment states can't discriminate. Gay marriage is not a right. What is a right is equal treatment under the law. You really need to learn that. My "ridiculous strawman" comes from the ridiculous quote you are saying. What are your standards? How do you set them? I clearly set my off of what is written in the constitution. Here is Bernie wanting a $15/hr min. wage but gave no justification on how he got that number. He wants to raise taxes to a certain amount, but gave no justification on how he got those numbers. At that point it is on the same level of saying pushing for a 100% tax rate and a $50/hr min. wage. Both cases are just making numbers up.

  15. +GravianS To start you can't tie the min. wage to inflation or productivity. Doing so is saying that everything has inflated which is not true, or that every job has increased in productivity which is also not true. So that $15/hr number is that just came out of nowhere, or at the very best comes from fudging the data. You don't have a right to marriage by law. Marriage is a state issue. You can say that you are married under some sort of belief, but if a state does not recognize marriage then you are not legally married. If a state recognizes marriage then they can't discriminate. It was the same ruling for interracial marriage. It is the same as in education. K-12 education is ran and funded locally. If a state runs public education then they have to offer it to everyone via the 14th amendment. But a state does not have to run a public education program. You are confused with the 14th amendment. That part you bold is not what you means. You are making it sound like that if two gay people through some religion, or just on their own get married then they will be persecuted. That isn't the case. They can say they care married and nothing will happen to them. Just like someone can say they are married to their cat. Doing so won't get them arrested. The issue was that states were recognizing straight marriages but not gay marriage meaning they were discriminating based off of sex which violated the 14th amendment. So now you have shown not only your lack of understanding of economics, but you have also shown you lack of understanding of the constitution. "You know, freedom? That thing right wingers like to hark on about, but never actually deliver on? How about this. You get your guns, they get their gay marriage. Everyone's happy. Try not to shoot yourself in the foot." I actually outlined very clearly that you have always had the right to get married, it was that states were not recognizing it at the time which made it a violation of the constitution. But with that statement you have now also shown that you are myopic. So to recap, you lack understanding of economics, you lack understanding of the constitution, and you lumped me in with "right wingers" just because I am a moderate making you a regressive liberal. Congrats. Hopefully you learned something today.

  16. It is true, Bernie is promising you a pony that flies and shits rainbows. Clinton wants promise you ice cream. If you get too radical on negotiating then the opposing party will just laugh because they don't want to waste time. You can't have a middle ground when you start that radical.

  18. +runemrick If you are talking about growth after the recession that was because of the rest of the world rebuilding after the war and the US wasn't. FDR and the new Deal turned a recession into a depression. The war, FDR's death, and lessening of regulations and taxes is what stimulated growth.
