Pelosi was a terrible speaker. The policies she supported sucked.

They don't support universal healthcare as it will destroy the economy. Many moderate democrats know that.

Justin X, those countries already have their healthcare systems in place. The US has 320+ million people and healthcare is 1/6 of our economy. Going to universal healthcare will kill many jobs in the insurance industry. It will destroy many stock options. It will raise taxes on everyone causing hundreds of millions of people to change their spending habits where most likely it will be a reduction in spending until the market settles. Businesses will not invest until the market settles due to lack of spending and higher taxes. Changing to universal healthcare is a very radical idea that will destroy the economy. Compare it to this. I oppose SS and Medicare in general for numerous reasons. However, I will never support just completely doing away with it as doing so will also lead to an economic collapse. Any radical change like that to any economy will do that. Now consider how healthcare is 1/6 of our economy. In other nations if they were to radically change from their system to ours it too will lead to an economic collapse. That is why healthcare reform is so tricky in any nation.

Justin X, that is why most democrats oppose federal universal healthcare. They want to keep their jobs. You don't do that by voting for legislation that destroys the economy. Not to be rude but if you cannot understand that making a radical change like that to 1/6 of our economy will destroy it you are not intelligent enough to discuss this issue.
1
Justin X, how long is "over time"? Also, you don't think businesses will start cutting back in preparation? And over time what will you implement and why? And when? I really think you fail to understand the complexity of the issue. As for saving money, nothing suggests that is true. Even so you have to convince this nation that is true, that raising their taxes will save them money. Our culture will never accept that. But again, nothing suggest it is even true to begin with.

Kyle, the problem is you and Pelosi and Maher and how far left you all have become. Lamb played it smart. He ran away from radicals like Pelosi. Supporting medicare for all is a radical idea and a reason why it did not pass is because many moderate democrats outside of ultra left bubbles like LA, NYC and the bay area do not support it as it will destroy the economy and healthcare. If democrats want to win they have to move back to the middle.
1
David Voss, how many countries have 320+ million people and our success? Also, saying we are the only country not to do it is not an argument. The issue is much more complex. This is why your side lost, you cannot form an argument.

Ian, they are losing due to radicals like Pelosi and Bernie and Obama. They lost connection with the common man. Look at the last election. You had Bernie who ran on radical ideas and refused to learn basic economics and business practice. And you have Clinton who refused to reach out to moderates. Meanwhile the entire media being stationed in NYC and LA had Clinton winning big time. The left has become delusional. Lamb ran a smart campaign pushing away Pelosi. People are sick of how extreme the political left has become.

"Bernie being the most popular politician in the country may mean nothing to you. It may symbolize nothing to you. It does to me." Bernie is likeable, but people don't like his policies. Many who opposed his policies even admitted that they felt he was a good guy. However, he has never been in a major position of leadership like being the speaker of the house or running for presidency. He has been a nobody from a small state for years. Without looking it up who is the other senator from Vermont? Who are the senators from Wyoming? Get my point? No one knows who he is. If he ran against Trump the RNC has a large list of attacks on him such as when he stole electricity from his neighbor when he did not pay his bill. He wasn't subjected to that attack. Why? Because Clinton did not do it and the RNC was hiding it only if they needed it. And in reality they wanted Bernie to beat Clinton as he was a very easy candidate to run against. He is only popular as people know very little about him.
1
Democrats lost under Obama and Pelosi for a reason. Bernie is a radical.
1
Justin X, that is approval rating. Also, as I mentioned, Bernie have never been attacked by the opposition. The RNC has a lot of dirt on him. Bernie was a nobody until he ran for president. Even most of his supporters said that. And again, well liked does not mean popular and also does not mean he would have won. So you don't care if a politician stole from someone?

Nancy Pelosi led the House that loss to republicans. She was a terrible speaker. Remember, you have to pass Obamacare to see what is in it.
1
Get out of the bay area and the liberal bubble of LA and NYC and people hate Pelosi.
1
Pelosi is a radical. Outside of the bay area no one likes her.
1
TheEvolver311, supporting Obamacare, supporting the bailouts, pushing financial regulations. She is a radical. Paul Ryan is not well liked by the liberal media. Get outside of the liberal bubble and you will see.
