Teachers, police and fire departments are ran and funded locally. Military is constitutional. The US is established with limited federal government and more local power. Bernie wants the opposite of that and really pushes for a Venezuela model.

Saying "mix economy" is vague. You are cherry picking things and not looking at the whole picture. To pay for Bernie's things you need to tax more people at a higher rate, not just the rich. That is how Denmark does it, that is how Sweden does it. For example, the highest tax bracket in Denmark is $55,000 where in the US it is $400,000.
