smarhaus But they are still entering illegally, they will be deported. We do receive benefits in the US, you just have to earn it. No one is entitled to anything in life. I am working on getting a career where I only work 24 hours a week and still make six figures.

Denmark was on one of their charts, look up their immigration policies, a lot stricter than the US. Same with Australia.

playerjoe There is an argument involved with immigration. Right now we have children illegally entering the US. Denmark and Australia would have sent them back or basically put them in a prison. Here we are treating them as refugees. I have my opinion on what should be done but I have a question for you. What is more humane in your opinion?

playerjoe I would have a problem is Canadians were entering the country illegally. Now what about Australia and their immigration policies?

smarhaus On the first part: So what, where are their parents? Why do the adults of that society allow it to become like that? And why should it be our problem? Second part: You are paid based on what your market rate is. At times that is time off. There is an incentive to work towards that. If it weren't there people won't work for it. The US is ranked number 4 in productivity. You have the right to pursue happiness. That doesn't mean you can create a law oppressing others in the process. If you want vacation time then go work for a company that offers it. I am working on getting a career like that. I am working on getting a career where I can work part time and be well off. I would have earned it through hard work. What you are doing is comparing a law of one country to a law of another. As I said before, we are number for in productivity. There are 18 countries with more debt per capita than the US, most of them offer that vacation time. It comes at a cost.

playerjoe Slavery was abolished because it was infringing on people's right to pursue happiness in that someone is forcing someone else to work or them. If a company doesn't pay you enough than you can always choose to leave. The percent of people making at or below the min. wage has been dropping. The average wage in the US is rising and it at over $24/hr. On average people only work 32 hours a week. Despite restrictions businesses do pay more and offer less hours based on their own free will and competition. I am working on getting a career where I will never work below $40/hr, ever.

mgelliott1 It is true that both sides of the media are radical and cherry pick. As a moderate myself my thing is that the left is worse at it and are far more deceptive. When the right does it the talk becomes more conspiracy and so extreme that it is hard to imagine how anyone can believe it. We get talks as in Obama is going to take our guns which would be impossible as of now. But when the left go extreme they play the victim card as in if you don't support them you are hateful. For example, if you don't support higher taxes you hate poor people. It would be great to have media with a balance presentation but that doesn't exist, you don't get views and thus money that way.
