  2. gothatfunk He want to expand the size of the federal government. When you do that then those with money can buy the power the federal government has thus putting the billionaires in control. The federal government was supposed to have limited power. Bernie wants to expand it thus compounding out problems. That isn't even the worse of Bernie Sanders.

  3. gothatfunk You are so concerned with getting money out of politics and I am more concerned with getting power out of the federal government and giving it back to the states and local government, thus giving it back to the people. You have little control over what goes on in the federal government, when you give it power it can be bought. If it doesn't have power then billionaires can give as much money in the world and nothing will happen. At the state and local level you have move of an influence in government. I want to attack the root of the problem. Bernie may want to stop the corruption but he will expand the powers of the federal government as a result, and when he is gone who is going to stop the next president from abusing the new power they have? The same question was asked to Herman Cain and his 9 9 9 tax plan, on what is going to stop the next president from raising the new tax the federal government has. He had no answer. Bernie will have no answer for my question as well, neither do you. We have to attack the root of the problem. "know what Norway, Sweden, and Denmark all have in common? they have the highest standard of living on earth" That is debatable. But what you also have to consider is that they have smaller population, smaller than most of our states. Thus essentially a more local government.

  6. Mark Miller Bernie will just compound our problems. He is a prime example of government creating a problem and then adding more government on top of the policies that created the problem to begin with. In all he wants to make us completely dependent on the government.

  8. gothatfunk The population argument is not fallacious. The smaller the populations the easier it is to get government to work for the people. Less people means less variables. Compare it to classroom sizes in schools. Why is there a push for smaller classroom sizes? Because students are educated better. Same with small populations. How many states are corrupt? You never hear of it, but you do for federal politicians. And at the state level it gets nipped in the butt quickly. And people always have the option to move and remain US citizens. It isn't an assumption.

Even when it does it should be done in a way that benefits the people. You do that with smaller more local government. Or we can have larger government where they give bail outs to the rich. You decide. Recessions happen, recovery is key. We are right now stagnate and we have been following what isn't capitalism.

The federal government doesn't fund any fire dept. or any police or local library. And spends a very small amount on education when compared to the local level.

Because what people across the country view as reform is different. You know, diversity.

People with money buy out the corrupt politicians. You are so concerned with what Bernie supports but fail to realize that he is just one member of the government. "If FDR was so bad, howcome it was under him that the strong middle class was created?" We didn't have a strong middle class under him. "How would a trickle down economy where your industrial masters are dictating the terms would create a strong and independent middle class? Has the middle class grown, or shrunk during Bush and Reagan?" Trickle down economics is a political term. How as the middle class grown? More disposable income, more access to goods and services that are better. The middle class has improved. "You can also tell us why it's the red states who are the big takers from the federal budgets, while the liberal blue states are the biggest contributors if it's true that only your republican economical ideology creates jobs and prosperity? For exactly WHO does your republican economical "theories" create wealth for?" Define a "red state" or a "blue state". When you look at that that argument falls apart, even some of the most liberal blogs admit that. The "republican economical theories" create wealth for all. Too easy.

" I literally live a stone's throw away from CA and I intend to keep it that way for a while. CA is a mess, so is Oregon. In a few years I do plan on moving to the midwest and KS looks great. But CA is a complete mess. Go there, it isn't fun. Detroit has been ran by democrats for a long time.

  23. TreesOnTheBeach I know. My point was that people can't just say "red states are inferior" without looking at everything. CA is a "blue state" (to be fair it is hard to define) and struggles in several ways. So does NY and Hawaii. Now there are several reasons why, a large influx of hispanic immigrants hurt Texas and CA, but to simply say red states are bad and blues states are good is showing a large amount of ignorance.

  24. Mark Miller You don't create better wages by just passing a law saying people need to be paid more. That is not how the market works. You create better wages by creating wealth. You create wealth by pushing people to work to the best of their ability. I don't support corporate welfare. And just because the government offers healthcare doesn't mean you will get the best healthcare. Being covered does not mean having healthcare.

  25. TreesOnTheBeach How does the wealthy get wealthy? By providing something society wants. Wealth only exist when it is created. When the wealthy get wealthier so does everyone else. That has happen in history. The rich had cell phones in the late 80s, not the poor have smart phones. The market does solve the problems.

  26. ***** The WHO is not reliable in that it does poor statistical analysis. The US has arguably the best system in the world. Number on in responsive care, number one in cancer survival rates, and number one in life expectancy when murder and accidents, things not tied to healthcare are removed. The main problem is cost mainly due to the federal government dating back to at least the 1940s.

A reason why we have a growing income inequality gap is because we have a tax code where the top 1% pays nearly 40% of taxes. That is not a free market. Our problems exist from government action, especially the federal government.

  28. TreesOnTheBeach No. Also the WHO has the US as number 37 in healthcare, but has countries like Malta and Andorra in the top 5. The city I live in has more people than those 2 countries. The WHO is comparing the US, a country of 300 million people to countries that are smaller than most of our cities. Not a strong comparison.

I am against single payer because it is an inferior system. Being covered does not mean having healthcare. Other countries also have higher cost of living, so what is your point?   31. CNN is left leaning, plus wait until the debates come.  Sanders is terrible at debating because all he has is talking points.  He is economically illiterate and that will get exposed come debate times. In all, though, the election is over a year away, these polls mean nothing.
