A right is something the government can't take away. Healthcare along with food and water requires that someone provides those things to you. In the end that results in force. We have an example of that in the US. A right to a jury of your peers. If you are called to jury duty and you refuse you go to jail.

Traian, the UN charter of rights contradict itself. It also says that everyone has a right to holidays of with pay and leisure time (Article 24). So come a major holiday and people need healthcare then something has to give. Either those people lose that right to healthcare or those doctors lose their rights to holidays off.

Nicolas de Condorcet, CA has one of the slowest growing economies in the US. They have a high GDP only because of their large population. There is a correlation between state population and GDP. When you look at other economic indicators of CA they are not doing well. They have the highest poverty rate and the highest Gini coefficient. It is a terrible place to live at if you are middle class. This program is going to be another program that brings the middle class down to the level of being poor. CA also doesn't have great population growth as closer states such as NV,AZ and UT are growing much faster as people move out of CA. I ask you, do you know how economics work?

Eisenhower was president during a time of strong economic growth because after WWII the entire world was re-building and the US wasn't. We had an advantage globally. Now that the rest of the world as rebuilt itself we don't. You need to find better evidence that Keynesianism works because right now all indicators shows that it doesn't.

Nicolas, in Germany they have strict restrictions on their "free university" to where if the government feels you are not qualified you can't go.

"Saying the system is corrupt so let's centralize it is like saying, politicians are corrupt so let's just go back to kings. " I find this to be very ironic with ultra liberals these days. They complain about how corrupt the federal government is so their solution is to allow it to run our healthcare and college education.

William, you are correct. I blame the problems of our healthcare system on the expansion of the payroll tax in the 60s. Because of that we moved away from the free market system in healthcare.
