Lots of rich people do this. They do it in other ways as in donations or charities.

The term "living wage" doesn't exist. When broken down it doesn't work on a case by case basis. It is a term made up by liberals to make others feel bad or look evil.

K1productions Why a studio? Why not a studio with two other individuals like I know one guy does? That is cheaper rent. Is a car included? I need a car for work. Others don't and can walk due to how close they live. What if a person were diabetic? That is higher cost of living thus a higher living wage. What kind of food should the be able to afford? What about heat, that isn't a necessity. Are we going to place a limit on that. And once again more roommate means less spending on energy. You can't define a living wage because there are too many variables involved. Plus you don't get paid based on your living conditions, you get paid based on your market rate.

***** The min. wage has lead to an increase in teenage and low skilled unemployment. Basically you are preventing those at a disadvantage from bettering themselves. The idea that the min. wage hasn't kept up with inflation is flawed. The percent of workers making at or below the min. wage is dropping despite productivity staying low.

K1productions You get paid the market rate. If you feel you are worth more than you should be able to get a job that pays more. The idea that businesses are going to pay low is flawed in that the percent of workers making at or below the min. wage has been dropping and the average wage has been increasing. In all one is paid what they are because that is what they are worth. You are paid on the variables you said. If you feel you deserve more than prove it. Become innovated and find a way to become more productive. Why are engineers paid so well? Over 2/3rd of min. wage employees see a raise within a year of work.

Andre5000 No because they are generally nice people. They just don't like their money going to someone who is worthless.

Trampadoo They donate to people that they know and organizations that they know. When you see rich people give thousands of dollars in tips to workers or donate to fundraisers or help out their lower paid co-workers then you see that the rich are not bad, they just don't want their money going to some moocher.

Dyvim Tvar I never said church charities. A co-worker was kicked out of his apartment for no other reason than the landlord didn't like him. My boss, who is one of the richest individuals in the state, told his secretary and a few other workers to get an apartment plus furniture and food and towels for that worker. They did all paid for by my boss. He helped out one of his employees because that employee was very loyal and hard working. These things happen. A fundraiser happen recently where basically wives of very well of people paid to join and a nice sum of money was raised which is being used to make the jobs of the employees easier. My boss worked in the NFL where professional athletes tipped him well. They tip training staff and equipment staff and other staff well. The rich don't just hoard the money, they do help out others in need. They help out others they know work hard.

Trampadoo They simply can't afford to pay their workers more, that is how running a business works. If you think they can then you should run a business and pay your workers more. Your attack on the 1% is foolish. They drive the economy just as much as everyone else. Attacking them will ruin the economy no different than attack the middle or lower class.

Trampadoo There is wealth disparity all across the world. You also need to learn the difference between wealth and income. Just because you have a lot of wealth doesn't mean you have a lot of income. Wealth is created. The US is number 4 in productivity. So while you are complaining about not having mandated time off I bet you will be complaining about slow internet connection and less quality of goods and services if there were mandated time off. These great things just don't come out of nowhere. Us as a society are getting better. You can by an phone now with a calculator, camera, internet etc. for $300. In the 1980s a pocket calculator cost $200. Your problem is that you want it all but don't want to work to get there. While you are complaining about not having time off others are working and succeeding. Remember that.

Dyvim Tvar CEO's earn that money. Look at how many McDonalds there are. I live within equal distance of three McDonalds. That is that many more jobs. They can always close down those McDonalds. Less profits means less investment thus less jobs and growth and progress. I hear how In and Out supposedly pays their employees well. There are 2 In and Outs in my city, as I said I live equal distances of McDonalds alone. There are two a block away from each other. McDonalds can pay their employees more but they will have to close down some of their places. The idea that CEOs don't do real work is asinine. You try to take on their responsibilities.
