Comments by "whyamimrpink78" (@whyamimrpink78) on "Stephen Hawking: You Should Support Wealth Redistribution" video.
If machines produced everything we need then things will basically be free. Thus everyone will be better off. History has shown time and time again that as technology improves goods and services get better and cheaper. We have seen that in areas that the federal government as not touched. Computers, TVs, cell phones, cars etc. are cheaper and better. Workers are better off compared to the past. Disposable income is up and jobs are easier. Redistribution of the wealth is impossible. All this shows is that Stephen Hawking has no clue what he is talking about.

+Ylze Tyr While Stephen Hawking is a pretty good physicist that doesn't mean he is one of the smartest people to ever live. What was your first cell phone? A flip phone? What does your iphone have now that your cell phone does not have? And if you paid a few hundred for a new phone then you got ripped off. I have a Galaxy S5 that I did not pay a few hundred for. You need to learn to find better deals. Evidence? I don't know, longer life expectancy is one. Work related deaths and injuries continue to go down. Look at technology and how jobs are simply easier. Hawking is smart in physics, that doesn't make him a genius. Who is a better brain surgeon? Hawking or Ben Carson? I bet you will be quick to rip on Ben Carson though. Has Hawking ever ran a business? Even at that I would not call him a genius. He views on what science is and philosophy are really shallow. He claims that science can answer everything when it can't. Out of the scientist out there I have lost a lot of respect for him (like I have Richard Dawkins). He has done a lot of good things, but due to something, maybe his disability, he seems to be very ignorant in a lot of ways and very myopic. The complete opposite of a Richard Feynman or Neil deGrasse Tyson.

+Ylze Tyr So according to you Tom Brady is a genius as well? I looked up the price of smart phones, you can find one for under $100. So less work related deaths and injuries have nothing to do with jobs being easier? I bet you think a TI-89 makes doing math harder as well. So Ben Carson has never demonstrated intelligence in other areas, but when Stephen Hawking says something you agree with he is a genius. But you have little justification for him being a genius in economics except that he is a physicist. You are not making any sense. But at the same time you feel that a TI-89 makes math harder, and Tom Brady is a genius. And you never read Paul Krugman's AP Economics book. "Hawking is a physicist, a cosmologist, and a former math professor. has won dozens of awards, published many books and papers, has come up with and advanced several scientific theories, is a member of several scientific societies and a whole lot more that i can't name. and did all of it without being able to move or even talk. that is fucking genius and if you can't tell the difference then that's just more proof of how much of an idiot you are." He is good in his field. Phil Jackson won multiple NBA championships, are you going to go to him if you need open heart surgery? I bet you will considering what you are saying. Because apparently to you if you are great in one field you are great in all fields.

+Ylze Tyr You said it at the beginning. You said Tom Brady was a good QB, so to you he is a genius. Machines making stuff will drive prices down to where they will basically be free. We have seen that in how increased technology has increased production which makes goods better and more affordable. But also you feel that a TI-89 makes math harder. You feel Tom Brady can perform brain surgery. You can't even read Paul Krugman's AP economics book.
1
+Ylze Tyr Yes I get it. You can't read, you think Tom Brady is a brain surgeon, and TI 89s make math harder. You don't have to keep saying that.
1
+Ylze Tyr The fact is that you are not worth debating anymore. Having less deaths and injuries in the workplace is a strong indicator of work being easier. But according to you it isn't. That is similar to you saying that a TI 89 makes doing math harder. Technology makes work easier. People are no longer digging up fields with hoes and shovels but are using tractors. Computers do a lot of work at a job. Cashiers don't count back change anymore, they have a little machine that does it. A cash register has more computing power than what put a man on the moon. But no, according to you jobs are harder. That is why I am just mocking you. You say Tom Brady is a good QB. You say Stephan Hawking is a good physicist and thus he is an expert at economics. So by your logic I can say Tom Brady know brain surgery simply because he excels at one unrelated field. If this entertains you then fine, you live a very sad life. Exercising, reading, my research and watching movies entertains me. And I guess you are welcome for being your source of entertainment. Bu it is really quite sad really. But what can I expect from someone who has never read a general economics textbook.
1
+Ylze Tyr Then what is a strong indicator of jobs being easier? Jobs are safer due to better technology. Better technology makes jobs easier as well. I am working on a paper right now. It is far easier to site my references using endnote then doing it individually. Just like a TI 89 makes math easier, even though to you it makes it harder. Or a fork lift makes lifting crates easier, but according to you it makes it harder. Or a back hoe makes digging holes easier, but according to you it makes it harder. How can you say that Mr. Hawking is smarter than me? I guarantee you that I am smarter than him in other areas. By what he said it is clear I am more knowledgeable than him in economics. Just because he is an expert in one field doesn't mean he is smart. But according to you Tom Brady should give you advice on brain surgery. This is why I mock you. You are so easily fooled in so many ways. Technology has been advancing for centuries and it has led to a better life for all, there are zero indications of it going to other way.

+Ylze Tyr You remove labor cost thus things become cheaper. People shift to different jobs, that is how the economy always works. I am not surprised how you don't understand that considering how you have never open up an actual economics textbook.
1
+marshallbs It matters a lot.
1
+Ylze Tyr I get it, to you Tom Brady is a brain surgeon and a TI 89 makes math hard.
1
+marshallbs At the very least they should study it. Stephan Hawking has not. If he has then he would understand that more technology has made everyone better off. He would not be alive himself if it weren't for technology.
1
+Ylze Tyr I defeated you. You feel that technology makes things harder. If technology made things harder, such as a job, then nobody will invest in it. I bet you think horses are a better form of transportation as well.
1
+Ylze Tyr Right now I am extremely busy. I am working on a paper to be submitted for review to get published involving my research. I am also working on my oral examination for PhD candidacy. I have actual responsibilities where you don't. That is not surprising considering how refuse to read a simple AP economics textbook. You have never done actual work in your life. So while I can easily lay out how you are wrong, and how never defeat me, my PhD is far more valuable then some poor loser typing out of their studio apartment in the ghetto.

+Robert Jordan I will say that Stephen Hawking has no clue what he is talking about.
