As Hickenlooper said, Bernie wants to throw a policy out there and have everyone else pick up the pieces. Again, who will decide what is elective and what isn't in healthcare? How will healthcare be capped? Who will handle the NCAA? Who will decide enrollment in colleges?

  5.  @Professor-Rook  , police and schools are ran locally and thus the local communities run them. They just decide to do it through tax dollars. That is not socialism. Some places have volunteer fire services. You are grossly over simplifying this issue. Pointing to roads and police and saying that people support federal social programs is a stretch.

  8.  @Professor-Rook  , compare it to this, say you have an apartment complex of all one bedroom apartments at $1000/month. Now say you give every in the city there $1000 a month. The apartment complex managers will raise rent as they know people have more money increasing demand for rent. Now expand that to the entire economy.

  9.  @Professor-Rook  , it is more complex then that. You can't consume what you don't produce. People having more money with the same amount of goods and services means inflation. Banks can only keep 10% of their reserves. So when a bank has money they have to loan out 90% of it, it just doesn't sit there.

  13.  @jjhill001  , it isn't the same. One reason why healthcare is so expensive in the US is because we offer the most advance care in the world. For example, we offer more CT scans and MRIs in the world. That cost money. If you cut pay by 40% healthcare providers will cut access and quality. Now who decides that? And really, "fuck the NCAA"? That is why Bernie is so dangerous. Him and his fans have no desire to actually consider other people.
