The military budget has been falling for over 60 years. During that time the federal government spending has been increasing.

Zidneya, what's your point with that link? As a percent of GDP defense spending has been dropping for over 60 years.

"Ah yes, comparisons that are uselss and completely out of context. The first massive spike was in 1960 right after World War 2 and entrance of the cold war which was a massive arms race that literally almost lead to a nuclear war. Furthermore the GDP currently posted doesn't take everything into account nor does it indicate anything with our military strength. It's a useless and vacuous statement on your part. " It is pretty clear, since 1960 defense spending as a percent of GDP has been dropping. "Even when adjusted for inflation, the total dollars dedicated to national defense is now at its highest level since World War II, Wheeler said...." GDP is also high, look up "The Hockey Stick of Human Prosperity". And this https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/GDP GDP has been growing exponentially. So it makes sense that defense spending is high in pure dollars. That is why you have to give it a proper comparison. In this case GDP. When you do that you see that defense spending has been dropping. "Good job pulling stats out of context." I didn't pull stats out of context. I compared them properly.

This is just one situation. Sorry, but one situation does not represent the norm. This was no different then when John Stossel pretended to be homeless for a day and made money and him saying you can make X amount of dollars a year.

kennedy, a lot of it has to do with poor money management skills. Also, I agree, our healthcare situation has problems. But that is mainly because of the federal government.

The federal government going from 14% of GDP in the 40s to 20% of GDP now and continuing to grow is not capitalism.

Stephen, I agree.
