  1. I worked at Amazon fulfillment. People who worked there received benefits and when you became a blue badge you earned $15/hr. People who claim that working at one of those places is terrible are simply lazy. It wasn't terrible. There are far worse jobs you can work at. People need to stop whining.

  9. Doesn't matter, the Senate won't pass anything. Trump could possibly get another SC justice and with the tax bill now in place the economy is fine. Congress will just stare at each other while the economy grows under Trump.

  10. It looks good on bumper stickers. The economy is way more complex than just a $15/hr min. wage. Most people earning the min. wage are not poor to begin with. Arbitrarily raising the min. wage means less jobs and higher prices, that is the reality.

  13.  @michaelfrye9864  , there are many ways to measure inflation. You have PCE, GDP deflator, Boskin Commission adjusted inflation, CPI, etc. People who point to wage stagnation look at CPI. CPI typically have overestimated inflation but government looks at that because many wages and benefits in government jobs are tied to inflation, so they use the inflation measure that gives the highest rate so they can give the highest increase. Boskin Commission adjustment has said that CPI overestimate inflation by around 2% and PCE gives a lower estimate where the Fed uses PCE to determine interest rates and an economist from the Minneapolis Fed argued that PCE is a better measure for inflation. I can get into the argument of the shortcomings of inflation measurements but the point is that some inflation measurements will show that wages have increased over the years. I have a couple source to read. They are on my other computer at work so I will have to give you them tomorrow. But the sources argue that wages and consumption have increased over the years. Consider this, if wages have been stagnate for years why have life expectancy increased? Why do people drive better cars and have better goods? How many had smart phones in the 70s compared to now? Or the same with smart TVs or high speed internet?

  15. F Z, the point is that saying increasing the min. wage will stimulate the economy is flawed. Christina Romer showed that if you raise the min. wage to $9.50/hr and assume that no hours are cut the economy will grow, at best, around 0.01%. That's it. Also, if the poor are going to spend that money that quickly as opposed to saving it than they are poor for a reason.

  16. A lower tax means that business can invest more meaning more wealth and more jobs and thus more tax revenue. What is higher? 10% of 1000 or 50% of 100?
