  1. Because fires in CA have been occurring for decades. This is more of a problem of policy where CA did not do enough control burns to prevent this.

  2. Matthew, also, another reason why there are more CA fires is because of there being more people increasing the risk of a mismanaged fire. You also point at the last 15 years and then cry "climate change" which has been happening for over 4 billion years. 15 years is null compared to 4 billion years. You can't draw a strong conclusion like you are.

  4. M. Fink, my thoughts exactly. CA should ban lighters, matches and anything that starts fires to where only people with a background check, extensive training and permission by the sheriff can own them.

  7. Unfortunately people trust Kyle. There is a solid argument to be made that these fires are due to lack of control burns that environmentalists pushed for and not due to climate change.

  8. The current wildfires are arguably not to do with wild fires. One is that there are simply more people living in CA to being with. Another is the poor policy in cutting down trees and control burns. CA does control burn to limit there fires but environmentalists there don't like them and push to stop them. You can blame climate change all you want but lack of control burning plays a role as well.

  9. Aaron, it is. Wildfires has been a thing for years in CA. CA just didn't do enough control burns.

  10. Aaron, the federal government is limited in resources and can't magically offer support. Also, the federal government cannot engage in domestic situations unless they have permission from the governor. With that said Trump has OK the used of disaster aid in CA. Now it is on the state of CA to manage it.

  11. Kevin, California never existed as a state in the 1770s. The founders would have never wanted people to live there. The founders never say the US getting better than 13 states.
