The study also admitted that taxes would have to more than double to pay for it. Will our society accept that?

Armadillo, Kyle, in this video, just ripped on people for only reading headlines when Kyle and his fan base did just that in this video. They did not read the study. These people love to remain ignorant.
2
MLG Bernie Sanders, a lot of factors beyond healthcare contribute to life expectancy. For example, if you remove car accidents and murders from all nations the US is number 1 in life expectancy. The US has higher obesity rates which lowers life expectancy. You can't look at the raw data and draw a strong conclusion.
2
True, they did say it was a conservative estimate. Also, that number was just for public spending, not private spending. But don't expect ultra leftists to read the study.
2
Ceros, read the study, there is a lot to it. Reality is that it won't save money.
1
MrTopparwear, how about you also compare quality and R&D.
1
Faddn, healthcare providers do R&D. They need profits to do that.
1
MrTopparwear, the US is number 1 in R&D. And saying their quality is "fine" is vague. I can say the same about the US. I live in the US and never had any major issues. So by your standard the US system is fine.
1
I read the study, it looked at only public spending by saying it would increase government spending by $32.6 trillion, and they called that a conservative estimate. Chances are it would cost more. They did not look at private spending. Also, you would have to more than double taxes to pay for it so you are ignoring the economic repercussions that will occur through that. The reality is that Kyle and his fan base are looking at one number but not actually reading the study. They are looking foolish here.
1
MLG Bernie Sanders, we also get better quality in healthcare.
1
R. m, administrative cost is deceptive. For one, medicare has other government agencies to pass the cost to. If you increase tax revenue that means you have to pay the IRS more as they will be doing more work. Insurance has to pay accountants which adds to their administrative cost. Medicare has the luxury of passing administrative cost to other agencies. So you do pay, it just isn't reported. The new tax would be a payroll tax which taxes anyone who works.
1
MLG Bernie Sanders, they are being honest unlike Bernie and his fan base. Even with an underestimated cost you still get a high number. And that $32.6 trillion over 10 years is just for public spending, it does not include private. Other nations do not have a more effective system. But proof that regulations increase cost read the article entitled "How Government Regulations Made Healthcare So Expensive"
1
MLG Bernie Sanders, a lot of administration isn't gone. And no, their systems are not more effective.
1
R. m 1. No, this isn't overall cost. Read the study. 2. They don't have better outcomes. People die in other nations to due to shortcomings in healthcare. You point to the 45,000 number but give no comparable study from other nations making that number an empty stat The free market has done many things well. LASIK has gone down in price and improved in quality because of the free market. Is there any other nation that has better R&D than us in healthcare? No. Even at that our healthcare system is heavily regulated. Saying free market healthcare never existed thus we should not pursue it is flawed. A cure for breast cancer does not exist and has never existed, so I guess we should not do research in finding it. Nice standards you have there bud.
1
Taylor Dune, they will claim that access to healthcare will make them healthier.
1
People like their cars in the US. I just spent 2 weeks without my car and it was a struggle.
1
Actually, to say the truth, the study said it was a conservative estimate, so chances are it would cost more. Next, it only looked at how much it will increase the cost of government spending, it is not looking at private spending as well. But leave those two important bits of information out and you have what is called propaganda.
1
I love how Kyle rips on people for just reading the headline when he did just that with this study. If he actually read the study he would realize that what he is saying is complete BS.
1
The study was conservative in the cost. If you had any type of education you would read that.
1
It doesn't. A lot of administrative costs in medicare is passed on to other agencies like the IRS and CDC.
1
frostguy, saying "need" is vague. Just because a surgery is not life threatening does not mean it isn't necessary. Waiting months can keep you out of work hurting you financially, and the longer you wait the more complications that developed.
1
Name And Address Supplied, if it isn't life threatening then you have to wait. They have that issue in other countries. Coming from the US I experienced no problems. I had a knee problem and got an MRI in a few days and rehabbing a few days later. A buddy of mine got knee surgery a couple weeks after he scheduled it and was back on his feet in a couple months.
1
AlmostHelpless, define "reasonable" because what is "reasonable" to you isn't "reasonable" to me. Healthcare isn't that easy.
