Remove the connection of unions and government. Crony unionism is just as bad as crony capitalism. Also, right to work is a great thing. If someone does not want join a union then fine, just do not give them protection. This is another anti-business approach by Bernie along with being anti-freedom by wanting to remove right to work.

He is the company's man. He does what the democrats tell him to do. You are a fool to follow him.

Unions are a part of capitalism
4
Darth, those countries do not practice socialism.
4
lostcrusader11, unions are capitalist ideas. It is workers negotiating wages.
2
Dara, you need to learn what capitalism means. You are a capitalist the second you choose to shop at one store instead of another.
2
The Djuan Moore Show, unions are fine as long as they are not corrupted by government. A reason why unions died off is because of the influence they had on government. For example, the min. wage was pushed by unions as a negotiation tool for wages. You had crony unionism. There are other factors as well that killed unions such as more workers getting advanced degrees and being independent, but government is a big source of the problem.
2
Gage, what "toxic lightbulbs"? Also, I never said there is no need for government regulations.
2
VitalVampyr, saying wages are lower in those states is very misleading. To start, what is the cost of living? What kind of jobs are in those states? Wages are very high in the Bay area, but so is cost of living and they have a lot of tech jobs. Next, unemployment is lower in those states as well. Unions have been known to kill jobs for part time and temp workers.

"Except they are required to give them protection. Under labor laws in the United States, the union as the exclusive collective bargaining agent has a duty of fair representation for all persons in the bargaining unit, including those who choose not to be members and pay dues." Change the laws. The issue here is that government has too much influence in this union situation.
1
"You realize that right to work laws are an example of the government influencing union matters, right?" I agree to a point. I support the idea of giving workers the choice to join a union or not which is the focal point of right to work. So no, repealing that law is not obvious.
1
Ignar, saying we need "strong laws" is the problem. You don't need laws as to protect the workers. You need unions and government should be there to ensure both sides keep their end of the bargain. But those laws to "protect" workers is where crony unionism comes from and why unions are begin gutted. I support unions as I worked in a large company where you were nothing more than a worker and not a person. I see the reasoning behind unions. However, they need to be free from government much like businesses should be. And laws to protect workers end up harming smaller companies who do not need unions as it is more personal between workers and the company/boss.
1
Bill, it is more complex than that.
1
VitalVampyr, we are talking about states. CA has a high cost of living overall. So low unemployment is bad?
1
chaos2inferno, I support right to work laws based on the current state of unions in this nation. As a whole I don't but based on what we have I support right to work laws. I want a free market system where unions and businesses are free from government interference. You have unions negotiating wages, not using government force to harm businesses.
1
The Djuan Moore Show, they have lower corporate tax rates and no min. wage. They have strong unions that are free from government corruption so the workers can negotiate wages. They are a free market system where the people decided to have government provide them with certain services.
1
Bill Anderson, I never said universal healthcare was socialism.
1
Jason D, Bernie does not care about anyone but himself. Look at how he talked to that business owner from Texas during the debate against Cruz. He had no desire to understand her situation involving her business.
1
Jack Ban, you have the ability to bargain. The issue is that unions got cozy with government leading to crony unionism.
1
Uh, unions should be free from government. In a small government system you have strong unions that work with businesses. Saying unions are big government is not correct. Also, we had a strong middle class because after WWII every other nation was rebuilding. Bernie is not leading anything. People do not want his radical ideas and we should avoid them.
1
Unions are great as long as they are free from the government. Crony unionism is not good.
