@trosway , the left feels the government can magically create things. This video shows who local communities can fill in the gaps when needed. I just got done with a conference where one person just found out they had cancer. Out of 120 people there we raised $2200 for that person to help them. This idea we need the federal government to solve these problems is very flawed. A free market approach with local communities via local government and/or charities can do much better in my opinion.

@Lewa500 , what "multiple studies"? Please give. Regular check ups are good, pay for it out of pocket. Saying other nations do it is not really an argument. Other nations also have lower quality and a completely different culture. Read the book "In Excellent Health" by Stanford Prof. Scott Atlas.

@clintholmes2061 , considering how I cite books by professors begs the question if I am dumb.

How will m4a fix this?

@jeremiahbarnes6313 , I think they are not well thought out and radical. A UBI is nothing new and has been done in the past essentially where it ruined many economies such as in Zimbabwe and it is one reason why the Roman Empire failed. Centralizing these issues and expanding them to some arbitrary point will ruin the economy and these systems. To grow the economy you need to allow the free market to do its job and fill in the gaps with local charities and local governments. This story right here shows the power of local communities. When someone is in trouble local communities will rally to help them out. I just came back from a conference where 120 people attended. One of them was just diagnosed with cancer. We raised $2200 ourselves alone to help him . The issue is that people on the far left feel that they need a centralized government to help society and people when in reality society can help themselves.

@jeremiahbarnes6313 , how are they for the American people? So forcing some people, at gun point, to give up their money to others who did not earn it in any way is a policy for the American people? Your argument is shallow. One can easily argue that policies for the American people is less federal government and more autonomy. FDR won because he was an incumbent. How many times has the incumbent lost since the 1900s? Under FDR we had a depression. It took the war and his death to finally get out of it. Simply saying they are "for the people" is not an argument. I can easily argue that no min. wage, no medicare, and limited federal is "for the people" as it grants people autonomy from government.

@JabberCT , someone still has to build the walker.

Medicare for all will arguably make things worse

@clintholmes2061 , so instead of giving a counter argument you call me a troll. That is the level the left is at.

@Avalanche616 , arguably it won't. Resources are limited, something has to give.
1
@Avalanche616 , not true. Instead you will have the greed of government.

@Lewa500 , Medicare for all will not cost less, and there is little to suggest it will yield better results. You know what will cost less and yield better results? Live a healthier lifestyle. Defense spending is 4% of GDP, healthcare is 1/6 of GDP. Learn basic math.

@dhackmann3974 , many factors outside of healthcare influence life expectancy. For example, if you remove car accidents and murders the US is number 1 in life expectancy. http://www.aei.org/publication/the-business-of-health/ The US has the highest black population for OECD nations where heart disease is genetically higher for blacks https://www.heart.org/en/health-topics/consumer-healthcare/what-is-cardiovascular-disease/african-americans-and-heart-disease-stroke The US also has the highest obesity rates for OECD nations which leads to pre-mature births and thus higher infant mortality. But hey, who needs facts?
