Barry Nichols, polls show a snapshot, not a direction. Read the article entitled
"How can a poll of only 1,004 Americans represent 260 million people with only a 3 percent margin of error?"
Opinions can change when more information is given. Healthcare is very complex and asking people if they support a Medicare for all system is vague. They may on the surface but when the cost is included, taxes, the threat to jobs in the private section of healthcare, the potential negative influence on the quality of care, etc., opinions change.
Also, you have to understand the shortcomings in these polls. You don't know who you are polling. What is the education level, income level, political affiliation, etc. And with phone polling you cannot view their expression which can be imperative in results. If they show a highly emotional response it increases the possibility they are very concerned about the topic and are less likely to change opinions. If not they they are not that concerned and will change their opinions when more information is given.
Polls have many shortcomings. I see Kyle and his fan base continue to point to them but their ideas continue to lose. Every attempt to establish universal healthcare has failed and no one made a huge uproar about it.
