realscummy The problem with "employee owned" companies is that they only work on the smaller scale, and only work if you have workers who are committed to their job. Most people don't want that kind of commitment. When I worked for my low wage job I worked very hard, but off shift I didn't care. I worked hard because it was right and I used them as a reference later. As a grad student now I do make my own schedule (for the most part) and have my own projects. The reason why companies don't go to employee owned companies is because there is an incentive for both the company and worker.

This has nothing to do with capitalism.

realscummy Capitalism does not underpay anyone. In capitalism you are paid your market rate. What makes capitalism great is that people will be working to the best of their ability which maximizes wealth creation to where everyone benefits. Will there be people who are paid a low amount? Yes, but only because they are people entering the work force for the first time. Capitalism, by design, lowers poverty.

realscummy If you feel you are worth more than it is to a company's advantage to pay you more to either 1. keep you 2. pull you away from a competitor If you really feel like you are worth more than you can run the business yourself. That is how the market works though. As is less than 4% of workers earn at or below the min. wage. The average hourly compensation is around $24/hr. Business can pay workers less if they want to. They don't due to the market.

realscummy A business has several expenses beyond labor, and they also have to earn a profit. You don't start a business to lose money. If you want to do that than you start a charity. It isn't exploitation of labor to pay them a market rate. They don't have to give that person a job at all, which means they will earn $0. If you are that desperate for a job that you will be earning little than that is your fault, not the fault of your employer.

realscummy It doesn't breed poverty, and classes will always exist. If I am running a business and I want to hire someone I will have to pay them. I am taking the financial risk thus I will still want to earn a profit, so I won't overpay a worker. But if I don't pay them enough then they will work for me, especially if there is a competitor willing to pay more. That is not exploitation. I am offering someone a job they don't have to take. If they are highly skilled they can get paid well. If they are not they will be seeking a job to develop skills. That is not exploitation.

realscummy You do profit from you work, it is called a wage. When broken down there is not one single good reason to even have a min. wage. All that does is kill jobs. For weekends, that comes from capitalism. We don't have mandatory vacation time but around 70% of workers have it as is. Overtime is also a job killer as well. Capitalism destroys poverty, it doesn't breed it. The rich are rich because they do work harder and are smarter. I have never had a rich person steal anything from me. All a business can do is offer me a job and/or a product. I don't have to accept either. I feel Walmart is a crappy place to shop. Guess what? I don't shop there. The Walton family may be rich but they have never stole anything from me.

realscummy "When you work to make a product worth x dollars and you are paid less then x then you do not profit." The company that hired me, when they didn't have to, makes the profit. I sold my labor for that price thus I made a profit. If that company didn't exist I would not be able to make that product. Unless you have some hidden answer. Tell me, how would I make that product in the first place if that company didn't exist? " Ohhh ok. You are an idiot." Wow. How can I counter such an intelligent rebuttal. I mean, you must have PhD to produce such an intelligent rebuttal.

realscummy Why stop at Winco? Why not just use Google as an example? They pay their workers very well? Winco also hires only 15,000 employees. Why do they hire so little? Why don't they hire more? Also, that link only gives a couple of examples. It does not state their wages. It really only talks about the shares of stocks they are receiving. So you are not really proving your point.

The whole "red state" receiving taxes has been debunked long ago. That is why no one beyond a regressive liberal will ever use that talking point. And calling yourself a "decent human being" is going off of emotions and not facts. You rather just give money to someone as opposed to actually helping them. It is easy to be liberal with other people's money. It is more challenging to actually work.

Carlos Long Do you have an actual rebuttal?

Carlos Long Or more likely you don't want to get burned again. I am still waiting for my answers for my basic gen. chem. questions I gave you.
