"The Myth of Medicare's 'Low Administrative Costs'"
There they cite the study entitled
"Medicare Administrative Costs Are Higher, Not Lower, Than for Private Insurance"
As I said, Medicare covers old people who get sick more, thus they spend more on healthcare by default. Per patient they pay more in administration cost.
For example, say my healthcare provider pays $1000 in one month on me, $900 on healthcare and $100 on administration cost. Yes, that is 10%. Now say Medicare paid $10,000 on healthcare for someone, $200 on admin cost and $9800 on healthcare. Yes, the percent is lower at 2%, but the cost overall is higher per patient.
