  1. My yearly income: $23,000 a year Question 1. There should be no min. wage 2. Medicare and medicaid are unconstitutional and by default should be eliminated. Remove the department of ed and keep education local. Funding in roads is fine. 3. There should be no universal college. Pay for it yourself. There are cheap options out there. 4. There should be no universal healthcare. 5. Outsourcing has a lot of benefits for society. We shouldn't hold onto low skilled jobs and push people to do higher skill jobs, like being professors or working in healthcare so more people have access to education and healthcare.

The reality is that with a min. wage the yearly income of the employee still is dependent on the employer. Why no make it a min. salary? Guarantee that someone who is working earn a high enough yearly income? It shows once again that the supporters of the min. wage fall in two categories, ignorant for feeling it does anything good, and political to by votes from the ignorant.

  4. +gj804 Slight increases across the board is not good considering how most of the poor earn over $10/hr or don't have a job at all. In a healthy economy inflation should not exist, prices should be dropping. Setting artificially high wages does not help anyone. Business do cut hours. For example, in NY when the min. wage went up a Denny's stopped being 24 hours cutting hours. The reality is that businesses will cut hours first before raising prices. Businesses simply can't afford higher wages, they have to cut somewhere.

  6. +gj804 Wages have not been stagnant though. That is a myth. And inflation is dramatized and mainly exist due to government action. People are paying a lower percent of their income on food for example.

  7. +gj804 Businesses simply can't afford higher wages. It is that simple. Just like people can't afford higher rent or nicer cars. Government decisions influence what businesses do. Flip the situation, if the government set a price floor on gas to $6/gal, would you buy more gas, less gas, or the same? Or would you cut elsewhere? You are being an extremist here.

  8. +gj804 The vast majority of businesses are on razor thin profits. Raising the min. wage a dollar or two will hurt businesses that are on thin profit margins, which is a lot. They give out raises to keep employees that are trained and reliable. They give out lower wages to new employees due to the greater risk involved.

You can't tie the min. wage to inflation because not everything inflates. If you were to tie it to productivity then the min. wage will actually be less than what it is today.

If you looked at unit labor cost it has actually increased in job sectors where skill set is low. You should also look up Skilled Biased Technological Change.

  17. +Bundlebear Yes, local taxes. A lot of people point to the successful programs ran by government and when they do they are the ones that are ran and funded locally. There is a desire to have government and programs ran by government. You have to keep it as local as possible to ensure that it remains the servants and not the masters. You need to understand that too much government is just as bad as no government. Pointing towards locally ran programs and saying government is good is a very poor argument. One can easily point towards small, rural areas in the US and point out that they live just fine with essentially no government. For example, around 70% of firefighters are volunteer where in some areas all of the firefighters are volunteered.

  20. The first question is bad, there is no such thing as a "living wage". This shows the difference in how they think. One side makes excuses and asks for handouts, the other side actually knows how to work. But, I question this poll all around.
