@mikewest3108 , graduate school admissions in many cases are not that competitive. And there are other factors as well such as GRE scores, research experience, recommendation letters. etc. I as accepted in every graduate program I applied for with just a 3.3 GPA. A reason why is because I have a peer reviewed paper as an undergrad. Also, grad school will look at subject GPA. For example, my major GPA was close to a 4.00, I had low grades in other courses.
GPA is not that important if you have strong recommendations and work experience. Consider this, you have two applicants, one with a 4.00 but no work experience, or someone with a 2.90 and strong work experience. Who will you hire? I will hire the latter a they show they can keep a job and work, especially if their employer recommends them. The former most likely just studied and did no other activities making them too 1 dimensional.
