Yep, Jerry said what he said in 1992, and then realized how healthcare really worked. Yes, single payer cost less. And a studio apartment costs less then a 3 bedroom apartment. So what's your point?

CA is the sixth biggest economy in the world only because they are the largest state by population in the country with the largest economy. Graph state population vs state GDP and you will see a strong correlation.

https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf Read that book. When you run through the numbers you will see that the US is on par with the rest of the world. You can't just look at raw numbers because that is what they are, raw. Just because you can look at UN numbers does not make you an expert in healthcare.

MrIzzyDizzy, they are raw. Look at the beginning of that book. When you look at life expectancy many countries beat the US . But when you remove car accidents and murders the US is number 1. Now that is not to say that the US is number one in healthcare. What it does say is that there are many variables involved in those numbers. You can't just give out raw data and make a conclusion. Doing so is ignoring the any variables involved with those numbers. Sorry, but people get PhDs analyzing statistics and it takes them years to understand how it is properly done. Again, you simply looking at raw numbers does not make you an expert in healthcare.

MrIzzyDizzy, using the standard of people being "covered" is a low bar to set. If the coverage is of lower quality or have long wait times then that is not a success.

A ford pinto costs less then a Lamborghini.

"So every single person who advocates single-payer, most of whom are vastly less partisan and more qualified than you, are wrong about it being cheaper?" Who are these people? Because I have seen many experts oppose single payer.
1
" yeah cause we should totally believe someone who denies climate science" Look up the word "skeptic" and look up the word "deny". The fact that you do not understand basic words makes what you say irrelevant.

"Medicare costs just 3% overhead to pay the bean counters who do the books, versus private, for-profit insurance companies who skim 20% off the top for their own enrichment. " A lot of that "skimming" by insurance companies is there to save money as in fraud prevention.

Saying single payer is cheaper is ignoring several variables. You are ignoring the fact that the federal government already subsidizes over 1/3 of healthcare already. And you are also ignoring that adding 10% of the population to the healthcare system will lead to higher demand without increasing supply which raises prices. People who say that single payer is cheaper are desperate at this point as they have no other way to defend it. Also, I can't trust the government that says it wants to raise my taxes and claims it will be saving me money.

Apparently to ultra liberals increasing demand while not increasing supply means that prices go down.

LinusMLGTips, that "middle man" and profits are used to actually drive down healthcare costs. It is used to prevent fraud and push for disease awareness where a socialized system, especially on a large scale, just gives money away. Compare it to food stamps. A private company will push for people to buy healthy food where with food stamps you can buy almost anything. You have people on food stamps buying soda and greasy food. That is a waste.

Is Kyle going to do a story on Charlie Gard and how Trump is going to help him?

Kevin, Trump and his family has raised money for the Children's Hospital. What has Bernie Sanders done?
1
Because it is not the best system we can use.

What makes you think the nation can afford it? CA has the largest population of all the states. Also, saying "Just cut military spending" does not add up. Defense spending is 4% of GDP. Healthcare is 1/6 of GDP. The federal government actually spends more on healthcare then it does defense.

Income taxes make up the majority of federal taxes. And in order to pay a payroll tax you have to work.
