One is science and one is religion. That is a major difference between the two. Both can be taught in schools, but they are different topics.

There is a lot of history and culture involved in the Bible.

Don't agree with it but this does not violate the Constitution as it does not establish a religion. It is an elective course and it is teaching, not preaching. I support teaching of all religions as time permits as a part of historical, philosophical and cultural views. Just teaching of one is bias, but again it does not violate the Constitution.

In my school district we have an AP government teacher that also teaches AP art. He has religious portraits in his classroom and allows students to paint religious portraits. He teaches about them on a historical viewpoint. I see no difference between that and teaching the bible in an elective course.

It is an elective course, so no on is forcing anything.
