  2. The problem with background checks is when they are pushed. Even I support background checks as a state law (never a federal law).  But this law never gets pushed until there is a major shooting.  After a major shooting why is there such a push?  Background checks would not have stopped almost all those shootings.  At this point it become slippery slope.  So we have a major shooting and there is a push for more gun laws, in this case it is background checks.  What happens after the next major shooting?  That is the issue overall. After the next major shooting after having background checks the next stop is banning guns.  It isn't the policy, it is when it is pushed.
