Not true. People don't want to see their taxes go up. Bernie would have lost worse than Clinton.

James, all you have to do to beat Bernie is play the bread line clip over and over again, show his support for Castro, and show how he will raise taxes. With that Bernie will be destroyed in swing states.

RJ TV, and the 1998 Vikings would have beaten the 1998 Broncos in the super bowl.

Democrats lost because they have become too extreme, dismissed the other side, and refused to listen to anyone with opposing viewpoints. Michael Moore is not helping.
1
Bernie was so popular that he won....oh....wait. Well, at least we have medicare for all at least in some states....oh....wait. How are they popular?
1
Democrats lost because they rather call their opponents racist as opposed to having a civil discussion with them.
1
sprybug, if he was so popular then why did he not win the popular vote? Obama went from being a nobody to winning.
1
anticorncob6, the political left is way too left. They refuse to listen to the other side which is why they lost. Bernie Sanders is a part of that. Look at how he treated the hair salon owner during the debate against Cruz. Look at how he misrepresented the Koch Brothers study. Screaming "millionaires and billionaires" every step of the way is not going to resonate with the common man.
1
Obama was chosen by the establishment over Clinton?
1
tcorangemen, in Colorado they voted for universal healthcare and close to 80% said no. Fact is that his policies are not popular. You point to polls that are unreliable as they are vague questions on complex issues to people are not informed on the issues. When more information is given people's opinions change.

XtraChromosome 47, read his medicare for all bill. It raises taxes on everyone that works. Also, when pushed by a guy from Denmark Bernie admitted he will have to raise taxes on everyone.
1
Fear Fighter, it does not save money. You are increasing demand without increasing supply. Basic economics tells you that prices will go up. I read Bernie's plan and found it to be rather scary. He wants to outlaw private insurance companies. He wants to raise taxes on everyone who works. Also, I have read a lot on healthcare and don't see a single payer option being the best choice.
1
Fear Fighter, other nations don't push for our system for the exact same reason we don't push for their system; healthcare if very complex and any major changes like that is almost impossible. When you break it down the US healthcare system is on par with other nations. We do many thing well but we do have many shortcomings. Same with other nations. We can have a full discussion in how and why if you want as I have read up on this a lot, but your argument of "other nations" is very poor and is an over simplification of a complex issue.

Jennifer, Bernie was praising breadlines. He said breadlines was a good thing when in reality it shows that a country is failing. If people are starving to death they die and that nation would not last more than a few months.
1
Jennifer, read the bill "S. 1804-115th Congress" In that read section 107 "Prohibition Against Duplicate coverage" It outlaws private insurance. I have read his bill, clearly you haven't. If you want to point to other nations we can. Based on the fact you did not even read Bernie's bill it is safe to say you have not researched the topic of healthcare very much either. I have.
1
C, breadlines is the government creating the perception they are giving you something. One can argue the same for healthcare. It is the government destroying a situation but then claiming you need them because they provide you food. That is the issue with Bernie's comment. People die in every nation because they lack access to healthcare. Resources are limited, that is the reality. You say people need healthcare, and I agree. Now what is the best way to provide it to them? One can argue a free market system is same with food. A free market system creates too much food so we don't have breadlines. Government providing things creates breadlines due to food shortages.
1
C, obesity rates are highest with those in poverty. They don't lack food. That is how rich our country is and how much food we have. The wealth those few have are in shares of stocks. That is not food or healthcare but shares of a company.
1
C, you can look at obesity rates and income very easily. Shares of a company is just that, shares of the company. It isn't income.
1
KidLoose, healthcare is different from food. Sorry, but training a doctor is much harder than producing liters of cola.

XtraChromosome 47, do we get more out of it? One can easily argue that "free" public college will devalue the degree, and that medicare for all will lower the quality of healthcare. One can also argue that raising the min. wage will hurt low skilled workers. There are many arguments against Bernie's plan that him and his fans are ignoring. You are assuming that if you make college "free" that the quality will remain the same.
