El Socialista Dinero The vast majority of the country have no idea how to generate wealth.  I work at a university and it is frustrating seeing intellectuals who have no idea how to work.  Most workers in a company are clueless and no fault of their own, they have no desire to care about the state of the company, all they care about is a paycheck.  That is why we have CEOs and owners. They run the company to generate the most wealth possible.

El Socialista Dinero That is just one company and I am not saying what they do is wrong.  But go to most companies and how many of them have workers who actually care?  Also, with Mondragon, what is the skill set of their workers?  Education level?  Hiring process?  And so on.  Even at that they still have a tier system. On electing managers, that happens already.  Shareholders who have an investment in a company elect CEOs to run a company.

El Socialista Dinero Yeah, due to community ties.  We have some of that in the US.  Typically it exists in small towns or in jobs that require a lot of skills.  Now try that model with Walmart or Amazon warehouse where I worked where people don't care.  Just because something works for one company doesn't mean it will work elsewhere. " The hiring practice is by collective agreement to let a person become a member." Almost sounds like a union where they prevent certain people from getting a job.

  6. El Socialista Dinero Min. wage jobs are part time and temporary.  That is why the get paid so little.  That, and they generate little wealth.  If they cared they will work hard and move up to a higher paying job to where they possibly have more control.

Wealth inequality like that is not bad.  A homeowner has 30 times more wealth than a renter.  The average homeowner has around 60% of their wealth tied into their home.  Beyond owning a home the average person owns little wealth.  The reason why is because not everyone has the desire to own a run a business. Also, several people have negative wealth like me.  A person with no other assets and only $10 has more wealth than 25% of the country.

El Socialista Dinero Less than 4% of workers work at or below the min.wage.  Wage stagnation is a myth.  Also, the vast majority of those earning $9.50/hr or less are not poor.  So the statement of "most minimum wage workers are on welfare" is false as well.  A lot on welfare earn over $10/hr or don't have a job at all.

El Socialista Dinero Wage stagnation is a myth.  Notice how most charts start in the 70s?  That is because in the 60s the payroll tax was increased.  Businesses instead pay with benefits as opposed to higher wages.  So the government's policy of trying to help people out is making wage increases harder.  Even at that wages have gone up, look up Skilled Biased Technological Change. You can also add to the fact that due to technology goods and services are not only better but cheaper.  Take a car for example.  A car today is safer, last longer, gets better mileage and is cheaper compared to on in the 70s.  So again, wage stagnation is a myth.

Anime Girl Well, to be fair, there are people saying that this company is receiving a bribe or tax money.   That is not true.  They are not getting a single dime in tax dollars.  They are being allowed to keep the money they have. Also, Matt did lay out the numbers pretty well.  Now it it more complicated than that. but what this does is allow 1000 people to have revenue that 1. can be taxed which generates more tax revenue 2. they can invest to buy property, send their kids to college, and grow the economy more It comes down to who do you want to have the money?  The workers and people or the government?  And history has shown government is very wasteful with money which is why so many people voted against the democrats to begin with.

  20. edymasta And workers earning around $30/hr.  Consider this, 1000 workers earning $50,000 a year.  With 1000 employees at 6% SS tax rate that is  3,000,000 dollars for SS.  So already half of that $7 million out of SS alone. Ok, now federal income tax rates.  At 25% of $50,000 is $12,500,000 a year.   We are also not including property tax, medicare and medicaid, local taxes and so on.  Sure, the company gets a tax break which means they get to keep their money (they are not getting a dime in tax dollars). And more wealth is generated.  This is a prime example of how tax cuts increase revenue.

That's the problem.  Also, you feel that the only government that exists is the federal government even though I showed you that teachers, police and fire fighters are funded locally.  Also, if you cared about those things you would do at least one of these things 1. Earn a doctorate to teach or advance technology and supply in education and/or healthcare 2. Volunteer to be a fire fighter 3. Become a cop 4. Become a school teacher But the reality is that most liberals don't do that.  They just want to spend other people's money.

"It's pretty ridiculous to expect one person to do everything" And I don't expect you to.  That is why I said at least one of those things.  I am earning a PhD in physical chemistry myself.  I do research that is used in the medical field.  I work very hard and understand the work involved.  This is my problem with the political left.  They want all of these services but do nothing to offer them except still from other people.  I don't mind if people benefit from those services, they just have to realize that it involves other people's work.  If my students don't put in the effort than I fail them.  Simple.  But you want to force people like me to cater to others who don't want to contribute too society.

No, but it shows I am doing the work to improve out medical field and while teaching in college.  You want to offer things to people but refuse to do any work at all. "Also it's ironic you want people to excel but want to get rid of education at the same time" Never said once that I want to get rid of education.  Education is dependent upon the person.  The fact you think you need the government to educate others is sad.  Yes, government can be a means to educated some, but in the end it is up to the individual.  The fact that you feel I want to get rid of education shows you never took advantage of your free K-12 education as a kid.  You rather pull a strawman than formulate an intelligent argument.

  34. ***** Government's math turns out wrong a lot of times.  Look at the loan forgiveness program recently or Obamacare, both ended up costing more than expected. This is why so many people don't like the government handling money, they are typically incorrect on their numbers and usually on the wrong end.

Also, I keep pointing out that despite you saying you want to improve people's lives your only method is to take other people's money.  You refuse to do any actual work.  It is easy to tell others what to do.

  37. Rob McCune How do I mooch off of society?  I just see it as pathetic that people say we need to help society in certain ways but their only response as in how is to raise taxes. Take college for example. People want it to be free but have no clue how to provide it. Their only response is to raise taxes.  We are short professors, TAs, tutors and other skilled workers at universities. How do we provide it if no one is there to provide it? The answer is you can't.  But the bigger issue is that these same people pushing for "free college" are not going to do anything to help provide it, such as become a professor or tutor. Take "free healthcare".  We lack doctors, nurses, pharmacists, researchers and other skill workers.  How many pushing for "free healthcare" are going to take action to help provide it?  And if they don't want to do that, how many of them are going to live the healthiest lifestyle they can?  Are they going to work out regularly and eat healthy?  Do you?  That is the point.  You are asking for government to provide while you yourself do nothing.

  38. ***** There is a legit argument there, but it is good to have standards in order to make sure doctors and nurses know what they are doing.  Talking to one of our nursing students the other day she said she needs to fully know what she is doing or patients will die. You are blaming republicans when I can easily blame democrats.  The recent 15 to finish program is a joke.  You have students overloading on classes and struggling in the STEM fields which require a lot of work and time.  They get discouraged and drop out of a STEM field.  My students are struggling with physics but don't have time to study because they have work and 4 other classes.
