He did not BS this question. You have to take each situation case by case and discuss with other people involved. That is how intellectuals think. They don't think in absolutes.

Justin, there is an impeachment process to place the president on trial and then convict him of a crime to which he will no longer be a president.

There is an argument to be made that the president can pardon himself. It doesn't make him above the law as there is a method in charging the president and placing him on trial. It is called impeachment. The reality is that the president is in a unique position where he is the only person at his job and thus there is a special way in enforcing the law on him.

Jesse, there is a process to charge and convict a president. Read the Constitution, Article 2, Section 2, Clause 1. It clearly says "except in Cases of impeachment". The president can be impeached and placed on trial and then removed from office. The reasoning is this. The president is a unique position where they are the only person in their position and they have an important job to do. If a president were to be charged for a crime it must go through the impeachment process.

If the situation were reversed I will have the same feeling. I have read up on politics enough to know how they act. Bill Clinton was impeached, he Constitutionally can't pardon himself. Clinton lied under oath.
