Zidneya Chomsky is a prime example of how being educated does not make you intelligent.  All he has ever done in his life is read a lot and write what was on his mind.  He has never worked in his life nor has he done much of anything outside of academics. He lives in a fantasy world because he never experience the real world.  How many awards have I achieved?  I have had a lot of success.  I am pursuing my doctorate and in my hobby I have on the side I am moving up to a prestige position.   Even at that "winning" awards is more politics than anything.  Remember, Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize.

  5. Those polls are deceptive. Raise the min. wage to what? Raise taxes to what? They are vague. But to really show how Kyle is wrong is that Coloradocare failed at nearly 70% of the votes. But yet Kyle says that the people want universal healthcare. If that were the case it would have passed in Colorado and Vermont. In reality, Bernie attracted a lot of young voters who are mainly ignorant. There is no future here. When his voters start looking for jobs and realize what it is like to actually have responsibilities then they will change.

  10. Chomsky does what he usually do, speak his mind but showing he is pretty much clueless on what really goes on. If he was intelligent he would realize that most of the young who supported Sanders will opposed his ideas as soon as they start working and start families.

My plan?  Have the federal government have less influence in healthcare.  For profit does not mean free market.  The problems of our healthcare system stems from the federal government, in my opinion.  And the root of it is the payroll tax.

All Clinton did was call Trump a racist and a bigot. You would think after 8 years of Obama they would have success to show for it. In reality they didn't, so the American people swung to the right.

I guess Noam does not realize that younger voters change the older, and more experienced they become.   19. Zidneya Chomsky has not said much of anything intelligent. All he has done is read a lot and say things that is not relevant at all.  This video is a great example of that.  The young has always become more conservative the older they get. History has shown that.  I guess Chomsky needs to read more history books.  In all, these young Bernie supporters won't be supporting his policies the older they get. My doctorate is in physical chemistry, a field that actually requires problem solving and produces something.  What is Chomsky's doctorate in?  Linguistics?  Not impressive.  All that means is that he can read and write well.  That does not mean you have intelligence.  It take intelligence to think critically and have problem solving skills.  Also, academics is more politics than anything.  So no, it is not that much work, especially after you receive tenure. I don't envy Chomsky.  I actually produce useful work in my research and studies.

Zidneya Really, anyone can say those things.  Take the second one for example "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all".  Anyone with any level of intelligence knows that.  The third quote you can realize by reading books by John Taylor Gatto.  Why don't we give him a lot of attention? What intelligence did Chomsky display here?  Young voters have always voted left and become more conservative as they age.  What makes him think the whole Bernie thing is any different?  One fundamental rule of history, it is repeats itself.  Ross Perot was the last third party candidate to come close to winning and he received less than 19% of the vote.  Bernie could not even generate that.  He lost and that's it.  His "movement" is done. Chomsky earned is doctorate in linguist.  Everything else you listed he labeled himself as that.  Anyone can read a history and philosophy book.  I know a person who is really intelligent at philosophy who doesn't even a college degree.  They just read a lot. They are very knowledgeable and outline their arguments very well.  Difference is that Chomsky is given a stage.  In the end Chomsky earned his doctorate in linguist.  Not history and not philosophy.  Several people have written books.  I am not all that impressed and that is my main criticism of Chomsky.  He has developed a fantasy world and does not understand human nature. Prime example is going back to the fact that the young always vote left due to them having lack of experience and will support a radical, appeal to emotion politician like Bernie. Their stance will change the older they get. My profession looks to progress society.  All Chomsky does is repeat what has been said by previous writers in the past.  In reality everything that needed to be say in philosophy has been said numerous times.  It is similar to the idea of the 7 basic plots of a story.  There is not original story as it has been told somehow in the past.  What Chomsky says has been said in the past by someone else, he just says it in the 20th and 21st centuries.  Take this quote "I was never aware of any other option but to question everything." My favorite scientist Richard Feynman had that mindset when he approached science.  So how does that make Chomsky any better? On Ben Shapiro.  What he says is more intelligent, but it is not without criticism.  His approach of talking fast does create a lot of deception and him bringing god into a lot of discussions makes me cringe.  I was watching a video the other day with him saying the US is the greatest country god ever created.  I cringed for two reasons. 1. what does god have to do with anything 2. it is debatable in how great the US is, it has flaws and one of my students his Canadian and she said there are pros and cons for both Canada and the US So I do feel Shapiro is better than Chomsky, but there is a lot I disagree with him on. Jefferson Westwood Poverty was dropping in the 80s, kind of.  For the most part it has been stagnant.  There are several reasons for income disparity and that was growing before Reagan took over.  After his time the economy was booming and people were great giving Bush a victory.  He lost because he lied and raised taxes and went to war leading to a Clinton victory.  Even after that republicans still took over Congress when Clinton wanted to push socialist policies through headlined by his healthcare bill that was attacked by Herman Cain. If any party favored corporations it is the democrats.

The fact you use "common sense" as your only supportive argument shows that.  Take the min. wage for example, when broken down there is really no reason to have one.  On guns, most purchases already involve a background check and all these new, proposed laws wouldn't have stopped any of those shootings.   Also in the US the number of guns has increased for over 20 years while the number of murders has dropped.  Kind of puts an end to the whole rhetoric of more guns equal more crime. Also shows that these arguments are not just "common sense".
