People do believe it because a lot of it is true. Bernie's ideas were radical. Clinton was promising you an ice cream cone, Bernie was promising you a unicorn that flies and shits rainbows.

"Bernie's ideas are already implemented in every modern industrialized nation on Earth. " Not true. Many of the nations he points to do not have a min. wage. They also ration their care so healthcare is not a right. And they limit who can attend college. None of them have what Bernie wants.

When they say money in politics they only mean big corporations. Groups like the AARP and NAACP is the good money in politics. Not the bad.

It is the same on the Cenk vs Ben debate. Ben brought up how unions give money and Cenk said that corporations give way more than unions. However, that is not necessarily true. But the left ignores that as to them unions are good, corporations are bad. Many on the left are becoming communist.

Dan Ryan, why are you talking about Trump? We are talking about Bernie. Also, Trump has been in office for not even a year. Give him time.

Jacob, Bernie never pointed to Australia. Australia's min. wage is not $18/hr, it is around $11/hr when you include PPP. Australia is also business friendly in many ways. For healthcare, it is ration. No nation can offer healthcare to all because of lack of resources.

" every European country has some form of universal health care.i know this because I grew up there." They all ration their care. Also, which country leads the world in research and innovation in healthcare? "also some of these countries have free college, some do not .but nowhere is the price for college the same as the United States ." In those countries they restrict who can attend college. Almost everyone can be accepted to college in the US. Also, the US has the best university system in the world.

Jacob, when you include PPP, which is cost of living, it is around $11/hr. It is more expensive to live in Australia. There is more to the economy than the min. wage. "Free" college education is not business friendly. People are not trained at that point nor do they learn how to manage a schedule and a budget.

Nova, I do not agree with your idea of healthcare and we can exchange ideas if you want. However, you are right that being wary of a federally ran system is not unreasonable. People on the far left feel that all we need is single payer and things will be fine. It isn't that simple though. People do not understand the complexity of healthcare. And comparing us to other countries is not that easy either. They have a completely different culture than us.

A 9, it isn't that simple. Healthcare is a complex issue where you deal with many disease the evolve quickly demanding new drugs. You deal with workers (doctors and researchers) who have advanced degrees and big egos. It isn't about affording it (it is 1/6 of the economy though, the math does not add up for us to afford it), it is about managing it for 320+ million people. Our federal government cannot even develop a website, I do not want them managing something as complex as healthcare.
